1. Regarding these two models:

the 75 IPSC, and 75 Champion:

CZ's website describes the IPSC as follows:

"The CZ 75 Standard IPSC and the CZ 75 Modified IPSC were build from the ground up for the IPSC competition. With the addition of the 10 round Limited class in USPSA, the CZ 75 Standard is the perfect gun for this competition. Both pistols feature a longer full-length frame and slide than the CZ 75 B and a slightly bigger grip to accommodate the newly designed heavy-duty magazine. Other features include: fully adjustable rear sight, ambidextrous safeties, extended magazine release, checkered front and rear grip strap and a gaping magazine well for the fastest magazine changes. The CZ 75 Modified features a 2 port in-frame compensator with a blast shield to keep the lens of the frame mounted FIRE POINT red dot sight clean. This gun will fit the IPSC 225x150x45 mm rule box.

The Champion model is described thusly:

"The CZ 75 Champion was designed for the popular IPSC sport shooting Open Class. The barrel, slide and compensator are hand fit for maximum accuracy and dependability, the trigger is a hand fit single action only version with take up and over travel adjustment. The pistol features three port compensator, extended magazine release, ambidextrous safeties and fully adjustable sights. Finished with a blue slide and a durable satin nickel finish on the frame."

No mention of the larger grip. So this implies that, unlike the IPSC, the Champion is standard grip and thus accepts all CZ 75 standard cap mags, correct?

2. Between the PCR compact and P01, for those who have shot or owned both, which do you prefer and why?

Thanks.

The Champion frame appears to me to be identical to the CZ 85 COMBAT frame.

I am skeptical of the Champion being competitive with a SVI open race gun, however. You'd have to either load 9x19 to MAJOR or use .40.

i thought the champion only...

came in .40 am I wrong?

Edited to say YES I AM WRONG!
I just checked.

Edited again to say it was the CZ75 IPSC that I was thinking of.

:p

The CZ-85 Combat uses the same frame as the standard CZ-75B. (Only difference is the ambi controls, which are also present on the 75B SA.)

The Champion frame is substantially different from the 85 Combat. You can see this by looking at the closeups on the CZ-USA website. I think you're right, though, in seeing similarities -- as they are supposed to use the same mags. The front of the frame/dustcover, however, is quite different.

(I've had a 97B, a 40B, and a 75B and now have an 85 Combat, a 75B Compact, a pre-B 75, with another pre-B on the way.)

I sometime carry a PCR...I perfer it to the P01 for only a couple of reasons...both were available when I purchased mine there was a rumor that the PCR was to be discontinued...I did have a hard time finding a PCR...back to my reasons for picking the PCR.

1. I do not see the need for a light rail on a CCW weapon it only add to the bulk.

2. I like the low profile sights (sort of Novak style)...I wish I could get night sights in that style (anyone know of a source or of someone who could but inserts into the existing sights and do a good job.)

Ok...the IPSC is the CZ 97 size frame and will only take the larger mags.
The Champion is the little'r frame and will take the little'r mags...thus the 75. Both are unbelievable guns...handled both but only shot the IPSC.

As far as the PCR/PO1..you have two guns that are the same. One is more CCW friendly and one is more duty/side arm friendly. Figure your priorities and get the one you want...the PCR is a better IWB carry gun due to less muzzle bulk.

Night sights in a reverse dovetail for the PCR are a very rare thing.....PT Nights has these for the PCR..and supposedly they have good tritium now.
So this may be the way to go.......................Shoot well

The IPSC is a bit of an oddball mag wise as its magazines are between those of the 97 and 75 in dimensions. I had expected when I got mine to find that the mags were substantially the same as Witness 10mm mags, much as the 97 mags are like the Witness 45 mags. Wrong. The IPSC mags are shorter in length (front to back), but larger overall than 40 mags for the 75. Thus the 16 round capacity over the 12 round of the latter. Unfortunately only the relatively expensive CZ IPSC ST mags will fit that gun. I just bit the bullet and bought a bunch anyway.

The IPSC Standard is available in the US, the Modified is not. The gang at CZ USA told me the latter was imported in small numbers, but sales did not justify continuation. All the weight in the front of the IPSC ST keeps muzzle flip to a minimum anyway.

I do love my CZ 40s. They are amazing pistols. Tack drivers, utterly reliable, comfortable to handle and shoot. Makes it hard for me to still say I am a 1911 guy. Guess I am a 1911 (and CZ) guy.
