We played it in high school and again in college. Used those plastic disk guns. Fired a little plastic disc. Fun game. Just like tag...but can happen anywhere at anytime. As long as it doesn't get out of hand it can be a neat game. Of course -- we never slashed tires.

Hey -- look at it this way -- it's good training. Teaches you to watch your surroundings and to always maintain a condition yellow.

I don't believe ther is any one simple solution. You can tell the kids to stop, the police and the school principal can tell thi kids that the game will no longer be tolerated. But the kids will do exactly what I would have done when I was in highschool or college... keep playing! Now its the forbidden fruit, its twice as fun and twice as exciting because now you also have play and not get caught playing it.

I do agree that if some moron whith no self control ends up responsible for an injury or worse that moron should pay dearly.

As I said before, there are MUCH worse things highschool seniors could be doing as a last hurrah.

Gosh! Doesn't anyone know sarcasm when they read it?

Thats the problem with this type of discussion forum, you loose inflection.

My nom de plume is Heraclitus, for cryin' out loud

Heres what I found:
Heraclitus A Greek philosopher of the late 6th century BCE, Heraclitus criticizes his predecessors and contemporaries for their failure to see the unity in experience. He claims to announce an everlasting Word (Logos) according to which all things are one, in some sense. Opposites are necessary for life, but they are unified in a system of balanced exchanges. The world itself consists of a law-like interchange of elements, symbolized by fire. Thus the world is not to be identified with any particular substance, but rather with an ongoing process governed by a law of change. The underlying law of nature also manifests itself as a moral law for human beings. Heraclitus is the first Western philosopher to go beyond physical theory in search of metaphysical foundations and moral applications.

We used Nerf. It costs a little more, but the newer guns are fabulous. Long range, flat trajectory, and they preserve that "shove a dart in and pump three times" reloading ritual that can make or break you in combat. We usually kept it inside the dorms, since they had the best cover and less risk of losing darts. Anyone doing homework or wearing a towel was considered to be in a "time-out". But if you went around in a towel all day that rule could be bent. :)
