Some Remington updates...

From my point of view, it is hard to view all firearms manufacturers and gun-owners through the prism of absolutism.

Every group has varying degrees of commitment to its causes.

This is just the reality. Why do we expect gun companies and gun owners to all be fiery defenders of what WE think they should believe and support?
Best post yet .

When it comes to handguns, young buyers are INCREDIBLY discerning.
Young buyers expect a wide variety of options, but a. often lack experience that would help them to see through marketing and cosmetics to determine reliability, resale, and craftsmanship, and b. don't have a world of options when dealer shelves and online resources are sparsely supplied. I agree that there are many options out there that didn't exist in the 50s and 60s. Time will tell how they will age, but that's less a consideration than it once was.

I am not trying to pick on you, Crosshair, but usually when I see the term "incredibly" I flash back to the Princess Bride dialog in which Inigo observes "I do not think that word means what you think it means". Incredibly means unbelievably, although folks often use it these days in place of extremely, greatly or surprisingly. Just another example of how the language continues to mutate :D

I’d like to see a R51 gen 3 with a new semi double mag that holds 10 rounds. The gen 2 action is solid, but the magazine design was still a dud, so it needs a mag redesign anyway. It will never be as easy to field strip as a glock and its variants, but neither is a 1911.

And ease the edges of the grip safety. The Gen II R51’s are pretty good if the aforementioned issue is taken care of.

Where were Remington handguns manufactured? The Huntsville plant?

Where were Remington handguns manufactured? The Huntsville plant?
Yes, all handgun manufacturing and assembly was done at the Huntsville plant from ~2016 till the second bankruptcy, that broke up the company. The facility at Huntsville is being returned to the city of Huntsville that held the mortgage and the equipment is being moved back to Ilion NY, except for a small portion of it that went to Ruger as part of their purchase of Marlin.

Looks like it's starting:

ILION, N.Y. (AP) — The longstanding Remington gun factory in the Mohawk Valley has reopened eight months after its previous owner closed the plant and laid off hundreds of workers.
New plant owner Roundhill Group LLC said in an email to the Times Telegram that the company has called back 230 workers to the Ilion factory. Phil Smith of the United Mine Workers of America said 120 hourly workers are among those who have been called back to work.

. Shipments of steel were delivered to the plant in Ilion just a few days ago. This is the first delivery of raw materials needed to make new guns, in several months. Under the previous owners, the financial standing was so bad that most vendors wouldn't leave a shipment without payment. The Roundhill Group seems to be establishing new lines of credit and a new reputation as the company looks to ramp up production.
