I went for a very long time not being able to find the ammo I wanted for my best rifle. It has proven to be excellent ammo for me considering I don't reload and I don't shoot enough to invest in doing so. I'd like to shoot more but I just don't get the chance like I did. The rifle I'm buying ammo for is my Savage 12 LRPV and to be honest anything 300 yards or less is pretty boring. It's too easy. I'm not bragging about my shooting ability. It's the rifle. It just puts bullets where you aim them until the wind starts to get a good grip on them. I can shoot 250 yards in my back yard here but that's just not quite far enough.

At least now I have enough of the ammo it likes to last me until doomsday most likely. I had a bunch already and I bought a case of it (500 rounds) which I suppose is overkill. I'm just glad as heck that I can finally find what I want. I looked hard for it for almost 2 years and it just wasn't out there. Now the price is pretty much the same as I was paying before - maybe a little higher - and I have all I want of it for a good while. I have a good bit of other.223 ammo much of which I bought when I couldn't find the Black Hills stuff I wanted.

Now if I could just find a good source of reasonably priced .22 I'd be happy. I said this shortage stuff would never affect me again after the first shortage. And I have never ran out of anything. But I had to cut back on my .22 shooting. But I suppose I should have done that anyway. I was shooting insane amounts of the stuff I guess.

I hate the idea of being a hoarder but I hate the idea of being out of what I want and not being able to buy it even worse. So I'm set for a good while just like I was when I bought a case of .22 3 days before Sandy Hook. I'll probably shoot my barrel out before I run out of .223 now. And I may switch to another caliber when it comes time to get a new barrel. I figure I'm right about at the point where my ammo will run out when my barrel is shot out.

Sorry for running on like this. I'm just happy as heck to find my ammo after all this time.

BTW I got it at Midway if anyone is interested. I bought 69 gr. remanufactured Sierra MatchKing Hollow Point Boat Tail. You can find it at this link if you want some. It's sorta pricey for running through a AR in shoot 'em style. It's more of a target round. But of course if you want great accuracy from an AR it's great.
