I can tell you from personal expirience that you can shoot an AR in the rain...
Circa '92, stationed in CP Casey, Korea. It was monsoon season and some "genius" decided we needed to go qualify with our m-16s.
Spent the next two days knee-deep in foxhole water attempting to see a 150yd target much less acctually hitting it.
Nothing blew up, no one hurt, just alot of pissed off GIs grumbling about the recruiting posters not saying anything about this and the evil things they would do to thier recruiter if they saw then at that point in time.
