Another P3AT owner here with 0 malfunctions. Not a range gun, but that is not what is was designed to be...

I was making a trade for a used P11 when the trigger reset spring sprung. I was test firing it with 20 rounds down the pipe. Thank goodness I got to test fire it. The ones that work appear to work well, but I could not trust one.

I don't want to talk you out of buying you really and truly want, and it sounds as though you want the KT (why, who knows?). I would hold off and go for another S&W pistol.

As far as your 39, I'd like to know how it fares with different types of ammo, particularly hollow-points. Years ago I read a magazine article that was really tough on the 59/39s. The magazine had an article entitled, "Why a $49 Raven is Better Than a $220 S&W 9mm Model 59" and the gist was that the Raven worked, while the S&W 59 (and 39) oftentimes didn't.

Once the 659 came out, though, I really wanted one. It was all steel (stainless no less) and shot JHPs and FMJs. The autos from the second and third generation were so good that I'd recommend you buy something in that line if you can find one.

actually, i don't want to buy the kt. i think it is an ugly gun with the only appeal being that it is a highly concealable 9mm with good reliability. i really wanted to buy one of the kahr's, but there were way to many failure stories for me to feel comfortable with their reliability for carry. i would also prefer a da/sa trigger for followup shots, but the gun just doesn't seem to be out there that is near the size of a pf-9 (at least i don't know of one).

as far as my smith 39-2, i had heard the original 39's had ejector problems, but that was fixed, hence the -2 (they also changed to an alloy frame at some point). a have not had one failure in 500-600 rnds of ammo, about half wwb fmj the other half umc jhp. i have even loaded the mag with empty casings and it would feed them for trigger practice.

geronimotwo,

I started out carrying the KelTec P11 in an Uncle Mikes pocket holster about 4years ago without any problems. It was accurate and went bang every time I pulled the trigger. Then the PF9 came out and I bought one. The P11 is now my nightstand gun and the PF9 resides in my pocket for any clothing I wear, especially at the office in my dress slacks. I am 6' 8" and over 300# and have two police officers that work for me part time as instructors. The have worked for two years and we were talking about me getting a Texas Concealed Handgun License and I told them I have had one for 15 years. One asked me why I didn't carry and I told him I do every day. I reached in my pocket and pulled out the little PF9 and they were both amazed that they never noticed. I said that is why they call it concealed carry!! When I picked up the PF9 I also decided to also get a better holster and now carry it in a Galco Pocket Holster. I highly recommend this gun for concealment, accuracy and reliability. It however is NOT a range gun. It's not fun to shoot for a long range session....but that's not what I bought it for either!!!
