I just got back from my familys ranch in Mills County TX. I was out to shoot a doe, and only had 1 day off from work to hunt. That night close to sunset I just decided to go for it and take what I thought was a doe. I had my scope cranked on 18 power, and the steiners revealed nothing I couldn't see in the scope. It looked it be pretty small doe, but hey I was after meat. The deer dropped instantly after the shot, DRT.

I shot the deer with my Remington 700 SPS in 30-06. I was using 165gr Hornady Interloks' with 56gr of IMR 4350, winchester cases, and WLRM primers.

The deer was shot at @ 100-120 yards off of a small irrigation hump in a field. I was impressed with the performance of the Hornady bullet.

Upon arriving at the deer I soon discovered it had dropped it's antlers, so that was pretty disapointing. It was low light, and my scope and bino's couldn't see the antler "spots"

Anyway here is a pic. Enjoy.

Waffen, nice job. Looks like your shot placement was perfect. Enjoy the venison.

Here in in NY I ended up with a small buck with the bow, a large doe with the shotgun and 2 does with the muzzleloader (a first and second for me). Of the 4 deer, I'm proudest of the two with the muzzleloader. They were taken in a pressured area, both by still hunting which -- it seems -- is becoming a dying art. The 2 does were both bedded and I basically walked past them in a big thorn thicket, and used their "If I freeze and don't move" strategy against them. Shot them both in their beds at @ 50 yards. 2 fity caliber Powerbelts pushed by 2 Pyrodex pellets out of my CVA Optima = 2 dead deer.

Good shooting, friend.

Nice placement, Waffen.

Question: Does the head have "protruding antler"?

If no, than you could (or could have-- it's a done deal now) used an "antlerless" tag.
