This past weekend 10/17-19th was Oklahoma's youth deer hunt. My 11yr. old shot a 115lb doe Friday, and a whopping 260lb Big 8 point(he has 2 stickers in back at base but we'll call it an 8pt.) Buck Saturday. I will try to posts pics ASAP. He was using a Howa 1500 243, 80 grain power point. The doe was quartering away at 47 yards and only ran about 40yds. The buck was right at 25yds, he broke it's shoulder and it only went about 50yds. He's flying about 10ft off the ground and I'm about 15ft. I am sooo Proud.

Congrats!!!

Man, I remember my first buck. I couldn't of been happier. The hair still stands up on my neck when I think about it, changed my life. Well done, I've got a little girl on the way and I hope she'll come hunting with me when the time comes. Congrats to both of you!!!

cool man, sounds like a great day. My son just took the safety course and cant wait to go hunting. he he he neither can I ....

They were taken 45min NW of Enid Oklahoma about 10 miles North of Jet. The doe was 115lbs field dressed. The buck was 260lbs live weight and 200lbs field dressed. They think he will go in the 150's class, but that pure guess on some of my friends part. I will try to get some pics up soon, we will have him scored in 60 days and post the findings. Thanks for the "atta boys" love hearing you guys input. One 75yr old gentelman said Oklahoma deer don't get that big, he must be a Kansas deer that got lost. LOL. Now for the best part, he shot him off a crapper..... The owner made some blinds out of porta potties. I told my son not too many people can say they shot their deer off the crapper.
