Sorry. Second question about groupings.

Yes, that is too much to ask. Most 527s I see are sporters, not designed for precision shooting. Most 223 ammunition encountered is military type fmj loaded to go bang every time. Crossfire scopes were made to meet a price point, and of course mounting may also be a factor.

This is a thinly disguised brag. Nice shooting! Now if you want to tighten that group it's going to cost you, starting with match/custom ammo, careful mounting of the new scope, and maybe some tuning of the rifle's trigger, bedding and barrel harmonics. Make one change at a time to see what is most cost effective and report back.

Yep, that`s a nice rifle but not a precision target rifle. Those chassis guns are different animals!

That's better shooting then a lot of groups I see from guys tauting they can do 1 inch at 100 yards with their sporter rifle. It takes a lot of effort to shoot MOA at any distance. Good for, great rifle and scope and lots of practice will help.

With a red dot like the Vortex you will have less luck then a decent scope. It's possible but it takes a lot more work centering the dot the same from shot to shot.

First go with form, then verify your ammo choice. Some rounds will only be able to produce groups like yours so buy a few different brands and have at it. You may just find the perfect combination.

Holy cow!! A 2oz. Trigger? Do you look at it and the gun goes off? Not exactly a rig normally seen with the “ recreational plinker” at the local 100 yard range on Saturday!

OP,
You’re going to need a Berger, Sierra, Nosler, Speer, or Hornady MATCH hollow point or tipped bullet.
I practice at 100yds with my M16A2 clone of my RRA AR15 match rifle for off hand and rapid fire using 55gr FMJ. A good FMJ is only perhaps 1.5-1.7” at 100yds. My Match rifle with a Hornady 62gr BTHP, 75 BTHPTwill shoot near 1/2”. Sierra 80gr March under 1/2” with 6-18x Redfield scope attached.
You’ll need to reload or buy better ammo...
I’d start with something with a Nosler Ballistic Tip bullet...or Hornady Vmax.

Nosler makes a 62 grain HP. They load it in their Varmageddon .223 round. That, along with 55 grain Hornady Vmax in the Varmint Express are both very accurate and precise rounds out of my Savage and will be my go to hunting rounds. Both are flat base as opposed to boat tail.

My range fodder is a 55 grain PMC FMJBT. I can get 1-2 out of 5 groups (usually 3 shot groups ) at 100 yards that will be sub-MOA on a " good day". Usually average 1.1 MOA. Not great but OK for my purposes. That`s out of a bolt action Savage. I`m not what I consider to be the best shot in the world either.

Yesterday's testing. Rem 700 ADL, 243, factory Sporter barrel, Vortex crossfire 3-9, handloaded 85gr Hornady v-max over RL 19.
3150 fps. Off of bags, cheap flimsy table at 100 yards
You can do better.

Sorry. Using Winchester 55 grain.
Gotcha, Winchester white box? If so, It's good reliable ammo but you may be at the limits accuracy wise.
Your results are really good imo for no magnification shooting at 250 yards.
To tighten it up a bit, you'll probably want to step up to a better grade of ammunition or handload.
That said, nothing at all wrong with the groups you're shooting with that ammo, optic, and distance.

Nope, that's my Benchrest gun, a Jewel set at 2 oz. I just checked my Trigger Tech Diamond in my 6 Dasher and it averaged 5.3 oz. I bought a Lyman trigger pull gauge and it came yesterday. My Trigger Tech Primary in my Bergara .22 LR averaged 1 lb 1 oz. Both better than needed to shoot nice groups.

A good barrel, good bullets (Not FMJ), a decent scope, solid mounts, a good trigger (Doesn't have to be great), a good solid bench, a stable set up like a bipod and bag or front rest and rear bag, is all you need.

Get good with that, then it starts costing to really tighten things up.

replace the shooter ;)… joking

Factory FMJ plinking ammo will do that, also your rifle capabilities comes into play…

if your rifle shoot 1 moa that’s 2 inches at 200 yards. If the best you can do is 1.5 to 2” at 100 yards that’s 3 to 4 inches at 200 yards. At 250 yards you’ll get that 4-5 inches. So in other to get all those shots in the red you need to start by putting all shots inside an INCH at 100 yards.
You could probably do it but not with any of my rifles.
