Howdy Folks,
Considering a glock for my first carry gun. How many of you would choose a glock to be your CCW? What model? I'm not a huge fan of sub-compacts and compacts, I'm looking at the glock 21 and 23. If you dont carry a glock, why is that?

Thanks folks,
Happy shooting

G27 the baby .40 for it's compactness, power and the much-vaunted Glock reliability. I also carry Maks. The G30 SF looks interesting. I may look into that next versus a G36.

I carried a Glock as an LEO (Glock 17 when uniformed and a 19 when plain clothed).

I normally carry a Glock 26 or a Ruger LCP depending on what I am wearing.

Sometimes a Glock 19. I have a 30SF in the glove box of the car.

I can't see carrying a full size Glock (I have several and they have a place in the SD/HD world but my 21SF or 34 or 17 are just really too big. The 19 and 26 fit those roles better. At least for me.

If I could only have just one Glock it would be the Glock 19 (which is the same size as a G23) I am just not a fan of the 40. 9 and 45 do me fine.

I carry a Glock 19 when dress permits, and Keltec 380 when I can't hide the Glock.

If I could own only one handgun, it would be a Glock 19. I think it is the best overall handgun out there.

What is there other than...

Glock 10 mil is King Of the hill! And none of that sissy SF crap! Go Glock 20 or leave it at home! :D

I am required to carry a Glock 19 or 17 at work - that's the only place I carry one.

Edit, didn;'t finish answering the questions, sorry.

No, I wouldn't choose a Glock as a CCW firearm, I don't like the grip angle, I don't like the trigger mechanism, and I have had more than one fail in one way or another either in front of me or in my hand. Personal preferance, and as all internet threads go, YMMV.

Glock 30SF. Awesome, reliable, accurate, soft-shooting, and solid. It is fairly concealable and can take the larger Glock 21 mags as well. I highly recommend it.

bad ergonomics compared to competitors like the M&P line. They're solid pistols but there's definitely better options out there.

Don't you think ergonomics is a subjective enough issue to make it more of personal preference than anything else? Glocks for example fit me great, and I thank God every day that he made my hands in such a way that I can shoot Glocks.

Glock CCW?

Its either a G19 or a 642, year round. Maybe a 1911 or a 686 (or even a Mak) when I get bored those the first two choices. Admittedly alot of times its the Smith as its just too easy to drop into a pocket.

But even in shorts/t-shirt weather the Glock is easy to conceal and at the range easy to practice with. There's no perfect CCW handgun, but the G19 comes awfully close.

I've liked it so much I've been giving the G36 (maybe the G30 as well ) a really hard look as I'd like to add another .45 to my CCW roster.

When I carry any of my less expensive ones like one of my Kel-Tecs or Taurus or something, I kinda feel like I'm carrying second-rate. I feel at my armed-est when carrying a Glock.

I just bought a G23 as an option for cool weather carry (after being Glockless for the last 3 years). I realized I didn't have many concealable "high-capacity" guns, and 14 .40s in a relatively small, light package will be a good option to have.

For summer carry, I haven't found anything that beats the PF-9. Too bad Glock doesn't make a PM9 sized pistol.

G26 in a Fobus paddle under a Hawaiian shirt, sometimes a G19 in the same type of holster (especially during winter), ocasionally a Bersa Thunder .380 inside the left boot, Fobus paddle, or fanny pack.

Absolutely!! Primarily in the winter, I've carried a G23 and a G27. More recently it has been the G36, the single stack .45, and I love this gun!! It is light, accurate, the thinnest Glock, and will definitely do the job!!

During the summer I usually carry one of my pocket guns, but I feel safest with my G36!!

a better question, why would you not carry a glock?

reliable, accurate, simple, safe, light (somewhat), tough, come in all sizes and calibers, and not real pricey.

So why not? oh wait let me guess....... grip angle! ha:rolleyes:

g26 here. I started off carrying a 19 and it was too big. Not too big to carry but too big to carry everywhere. A lot of people start out carrying a full size gun and end up leaving it at home or buying a mouse gun after a while. It's the best compromise I've found so far for power/capacity/accuracy/reliability. I may try a g30sf but I hear it's the same size as a g23 which I had but only carried in the winter.
Some people don't like the grip angle. I don't have a problem changing between a 1911 and a Glock but if you are used to a 1911 type grip angle and shoot with your eyes closed you'll be high with a glock.
