I was recently given a Marlin 336, and am smitten! I have some Hornady FTX for critter control, and for experimenting with longer range stuff. I’d like some inexpensive cast bullets to plink with.

I found some at Missouri Bullet Company. Are there other sources you prefer?

Thanks!

If you really want to explore cast bullets in the 336, take a look at Montana Bullet Works. They make exceptional bullets. Yes, they are expensive, but you get what you pay for. All of my .348 bullets come from there, and some of my .309" and .310" bullets. I also get some .41 and .45 Colt heavies from them.

I have used the Laser Cast and Missouri Bullet lead bullets they make for a 30-30. Both were fairly accurate and I will buy them again when I need more from whomever has the best deal at the time. Once got some that were gas checked from somewhere that were a bit better but put them in a smaller container and forgot where I got them. Bought a lot from Mats Bullets at the time so possibly there but not shure.

If you want product NOW you could go to CastBoolits and look in their for sale page. Guys there regularly sell and trade bullets for reasonable prices and everything is stock in hand as opposed to the mess you get into from ordering.

and 180gr flat nose gas check in .310.

That's the same bullet I get from Montana... it's an excellent bullet. Theirs drop at about 175grn, but close enough. That's the .310" bullet I have to use in my Savage 99 .30-30 because of the bore size.

I love the address, Poison Montana!
It's Polson (with an L), not Poison, though some Montanans refer to it as "Poison." I don't know why.:D
Regardless, I've bought and used a good many cast handgun bullets from Rimrock Bullets. I like their handgun bullets a lot, both gas-checked and plain based, and I've always found the folks at Rimrock Bullets good people to deal with.
I guess it's been about a year since I read (right here on THR, actually) that Oregon Trail sold out to Rimrock Bullets. And not to ruffle any feathers, but when I read that, my first thought was, "Well, that's the best thing that ever happened to the Oregon Trail bullet company.:neener:

Oh, a L well that's no fun. A metropolis!
My screen must be dirty:)

I bought a 500 count box of .308 diameter, 170 grain flat point bullets from Mo. Bullitt CO. They group well in my Springfield bolt action 30-30, not so good in my Marlin 36A lever action. hdbiker
