Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know of a good source for buying targets and/or target stands online?

I'm in the process of teaching self-defense shooting to a visually impaired woman and could use some targets that are not black...red seems to work especially well for her.

On the target stands, I'm looking for something that breaks down and assembles quickly for placing paper and/or cardboard targets on.

Thank you for the input.

If you're shooting outside just get a couple pieces of rebar, and a couple electrical conduit pipes (that will fit over the rebar). Get some zip straps from hardware store and pieces of cardboard. Attach the cardboard to the conduit all along the edges with the zip straps. Pound the rebar into the ground and slide the conduit/cardboard tgts. over the top--simple, cheap as it gets and portable.

I have a target stand made out of PVC pipe, that breaks down. Works pretty good, as long as it's not too windy. I'll try to get some photos, it's pretty simple.

Here's some photos of the one I have, I bought it from a Marine Sgt. that made a few for extra income. It works great, except when it's windy I have to tie it off to some cinder blocks or ammo cans full of dirt.

Pretty simple, the base is 1" PVC and the upright parts are all 3/4". Basically 24"x30" all over. The base is full of sand and water for weight, and is all glued together. The top parts are not glued, and will break down. I've been known to shoot holes in the frame pieces, so you don't want it glued.

To store it, you stack the target frame against the bottom frame, lay the "legs" across the top, secure everything with a couple Velcro straps, and hang it on the garage wall.

I've had good luck with Alco Targets and letargets.com

You can build your own target stands with 2x4s as well, there is a little guide with pictures here.

I have made three of them, the last two I made I used 36" legs and that made it far less apt to tip over in wind.

le targets for me too. i get all my targets and backers from them or work and all my stands i get from brownells. they are called the "bearst" target stands. i use to make 2x4" target stands but, not any more, they are big and heavy and take up to much space.

I use the same stand have five of them. You can make then as just a base the sides you can build them with the tubes half way up and drop 1x1 down them to hold the targets. I use silhouette targets cut out of card board and put colored t-shirts on them to make GG & BG targets. Anyway if you fill the bottom with water or cinch tie some weights to the corners they hold up fine in the wind or I use those weights that you velcro around your wrist or ankles
