I am in need of a new place to shoot --- both pistols and rifles.

I live in Southwest Virginia (specifically in Washington County, and near Smyth County) - so if anyone knows of good places to shoot, i.e. gun clubs, etc....please let me know.

"Kettlefoot" in Bristol is a bit too far to drive, so is Johnson City and Kingsport, Tennessee.

There is just nothing around here! I used to live in Roanoke, Virginia -- and they had one indoor range, and a couple of outdoor ranges.

Also, if any of you people need someone with whom to shoot, email me at [email protected].

BTW, I will be teaching some NRA Pistol Courses soon (that meets Virginia CHP requirements).

Thanks,

I call Elizabethton home still...and only one I know of in the area is Unaka Rod and Gun. But you say its too far of a drive. Sorry thats about it for my knowledge

Thanks

I think I have been to Elizabethton once, when I was about 10 years old.

Thanks anyway.

Wythe County?

There is a national forest range along the Wythe-Bland county line.

81N-77N and take the last exit before the tunnel. Turn left at the ramp and take a right on the first gravel road (the one with the Olympic "shooting guy" silhouette sign).

The range is kind of rough, but it's free and usually not crowded.

Good luck.

Wythe Range

Yes - I have been to the Wythe Range.

It is muddy.

There is trash EVERYWHERE.

Everything in sight - signs, benches, etc. have all been shot up.

Also, you have to park your vehicle quite a distance from the actual shooting area -- something I'm not willing to do at that particular location.

It is also more than an hour's drive away - Bristol and Johnson City are closer.

Thanks,
