Finally picked up a SP01 Shadow .

neat gun..from the box..gun came with 3 mags, usual paperwork, lock, loader, etc. gun was dripping with the usual CZ oil. no real surprises.

the Shadow already has a FO front sight, bigger rear sight, CZ85C trigger, rubber grips. on my scale..the DA pull was very smooth, but off my pull scale for weight..so it was over 8# and the SA was crisp with no camming at 3.25#.

the hammer hooks on the Shadow are much shorter than the std CZ guns..so the single action pull was very clean. the hammer is not narrowed so is a little heavier..also there is no Firing Pin Block in the gun..so that helps the mechanics a little also..

OK..never one to leave things alone..
changed out the front sight to a plain black, change out the grips to flat aluminum, installed a CZ comp hammer, installed a SS FLGR, tweaked the trigger spring, and worked over 15# hammer spring. boosted the hammer and sear.

Trigger now is a nice 6# DA, 2# SA.

have run only about 400 rounds through it of mixed factory and reloads with no problems..used the factory mags and the new MecGar AFC mags..

:)

Yes, they are set up very, very nicely from the factory. Personally the only things I did were respring it and change the hammer to the competiton hammer.

Good Grief, those Shadow's are just works of art.

I'm disappointed in Stuart for taking out a good hammer and putting in a new one:p. Only person I know that would do such a thing is myself:banghead:

Congrats on a super pistol; manual safety is the only way to go IMHO.

i agree. decockers are FTL. i'll take one on my carry, but not on a race gun. well, not unless it was production division...

My Shadow..with my favorite grips..

I'll have to think about selling that hammer..let you know

the AFC mag..the mag is longer by .175, the feed lip design is different too..while the same width, the taper is different.
the follower is the same, just blue..the spring has the same number of coils and same gauge thickness.

I think they get enough room out of length and new taper at top to squeeze in the 17th round. there is a new design at the front of the mag too..not sure why..maybe something to do in help keeping the feeding round from dipping.

I'm ignorant on the mag. issue, I'm not trying to be a smart ass.

What is wrong with the CZ SP-01 factory mags?

If you're looking for a flush fit and don't mind loosing capacity why not use the flush fit 9mm 16 rounders with the flat, metal bottoms?

No worry Hags..

MecGar came out with some new mags..thought I'd give them a look..
I used to have several of the CZ factory 16rnd mags, SP01 mags..and I just ordered a set of these..
MecGar added a 17rnd, 19rnd and 13rd (.40SW) mag with this new design, coating and +2 basepad..pretty much what they did with the SIG SCT mags, etc.

no issue with the established stuff..just like looking at the new stuff too.

This is good info, I'll have to check the Mec-Gar site. I have never liked the asthetics of the SP-01 19 rounder, just a personal thing.

I'm serious about that hammer. You know you're not going to put it back in, but I know you need some time to decide. PM me if/when you're ready.

I have CZ Comp. hammers and a few stock hammers I've taken out of SP-01s laying around.
$25 shipped if you want one of the stock hammers. The wider hammers that are used on the TS models won't work as they're too wide.
