Does the break point make sense to you?

I don't have an SP 101 handy, but looking at the transfer bar in my Blackhawk, and comparing it to the picture, there appears to be a stress riser there -- at the upper end of the broken part. I think the effect of the impact is all concentrated there, and that's why it broke.

so i sent it off to ruger specifying that the transfer bar is broken. also asked them to fix the loose front sight.

what's the consensus? would snap caps have prevented this from happening? seems to me that having something to absorb some of the energy in the system would lower the stress put on the weakest part (the transfer bar) in the system. But i'm no rocket scientist.

Well, I'll give a little on this.

Snap caps might have put it off a bit.

However, I'm still inclined to think that the real problem was a defective part. Ruger specifically states in the GP100 and SRH manuals that dryfiring will not hurt the gun and the SP101 is basically the same design.
