sp101 deal?

There is a 357 mag sp101 that i am going to check out at a local gun store with an asking price of 400.00 Not sure if it is used or not. Is this a good price used if in good condition?
This gun has had my intrerest for some time now. Cant seem to talk myself out of buying one for when i get my ccw. Has anyone had any issues with these guns? I love ruger six guns(well this ones a five gun ha) the gp being my favorite. Wish i could say the same for ruger auto loaders. Think I got a lemon.

That's not a bad price if it is new. Only one local shop seems to carry them in my area, and they run $425-$450. Used about $325 the last time I looked.

If new, that is a great price. If used, it is a little high, even if in good condition. I'd be willing to pay as much as $375 around here for a solid used one, but the market may be a little different in UT.

Call Ruger about your autoloader if the problem is more than just personal preference. They're very helpful!

just bought an SP101 and have not yet shot it. feels solid as a rock though. $400 new is a great price. I got the 2" barrel and the shop had only gotten the gun in the store that day. longer barrels are easier to come by.

$400 for a new SP101 is a good price. Used ones around my area or going for $400 to $450. I have always liked the looks of them.

I am so jealous, hearing of gun prices in other parts of the country. 357 mag SP101s around here go for as much as $500, but usually $450.

I've seen used ones that sold from 340-425. I've seen people asking more than that up to about $500. There are a couple for sale locally here. One is $400 the other they are asking $460.

if new i would say that that is a good price. if used in good shape i would say its not the best, but still worth it IMO. on the plus side if the previous owner shot it a lot then the trigger will be nice and smooth for ya!

i would say $400 is decent to good if new. i bought mine for $389 at a gun show. granted that was a couple years ago (fall 2007, i think). 20 minutes later, i saw it for $349 new at another table that i swear i had already checked (i walked the whole building before buying the $389 one). either i just missed it, or it wasn't out the first time. anyway...that's definitely the best price i have ever seen one at, before or since.

if used, $400 is not so great in my opinion. in that case, i'd make a lower offer. check completed auctions (not current listings) on gunbroker to see what they've actually sold at, both used and new. this will give you a decent barometer of market value.

In the Cleveland, Ohio area you will pay over $500. for a new SP101. If you get a good used one for $400, buy it.

It's a good price for a used one if it is 90% or better. Otherwise, just buy a new one.

I just bought a second SP101 for $475. Locally I have seen them NIB from $425 to $526. $600+ with the Crimson Trace grips. If you have found one for $400 NIB I would buy it.

The SP101 is a solid gun. I prefer it in .357, because I feel it's too clunky for a .38. Also, it's too heavy for a pocket gun so I'd rather have the 3" barrel. My only complaint about the SP platform is that you don't get a full length ejector rod by going to the 3" like you do with S&W.
