17-year-old twins... one had been asking to build an AR with me so I got him a palmetto build kit and freedom lightweight upper for Christmas, and of course had to buy another for his brother. :D I wanted to get complete build kits but money is tight and from what I found it's actually less expensive to get completed uppers. Maybe next time.

Anderson lowers purchased locally. Went together without a hitch. Their first time driving pins or assembling guns and both enjoyed it.

GET TO THE CHOPPPAAAAAAH!!!

Great to see your kids doing something like building their own AR versus spending their every free moment in front of a flat screen playing video games.

Good for you, good for them.

Nice one, 1kperday. My daughter has started nosing around one of my ar's the other day, and I told her they make pink furniture for them. She looks strait at me and says, "when I build one of these I want it to be black, NOT PINK!" Might be time for me to follow your lead...

That's a darn fine way to spend some quality time with your kiddos! They'll probably appreciate those rifles even more when they get a bit older... the first AR-15 I built is still significant to me, and I only did it a couple of years ago!
