Oh man, I think you have set yourself a difficult task and I wish you luck.

Watch the three main gun auction/sale sites and classified sections of the forums you read. I found one on Gunbroker and one on this forum. It is a "neat" gun.

recently picked up a Sphinx AT M 380 after a pretty long search. I have seen them at gun shows but priced exceptionally high. You just have to keep and eye out and be ready when opportunity arises.
Good Luck and they are certainly worth the wait:)

what makes this little pistol so exceptional?

The compact Sphinx is made from high quality materials... it feels like a solid chunk of stainless...very tight, very rugged.

It is accurate.

The trigger is a butter smooth DAO.

The mags hold 10 or 11+1... alot for a fairly small gun.

Very reliable. I can't recall a failure in mine.

The Sphinx 380 AT M looks to be a refined version of the CZ82/83. The magazines from my CZ83 even fit into and function flawlessly in the Sphinx although they are 12 round and hang below the grip a bit. The trigger mechanism is very close in design but a whole lot smoother than any of my CZ's ,which are pretty good.

That is my experience also. Sphinx produced mostly a 10 round magazine with a finger rest, which is the more common mag seen, but also an 11 round mag that fit just like the 10 rounders. Sphinx sold me some flat base plates which make the gun even easier to conceal. The CZ mags are longer and extend past the grip bottom and are all flat plated, but make for excellent range mags.
