Anybody own one of these? Seen them on the Sabre Defense website, and they are going for over $2000! They look like spiffied up CZs. I've always had trouble reaching the safety on a CZ, and these look like they are in the same place.

They are good pistols but I don't think I'd pay $2,000 for one.

My AT .380-M.

I m not a fan of DAO pistols but they do seem to be right accurate.
Mine shoots low and left.
10 yards rapid fire.

The big deal is that they are precision made in Switzerland. They are basically handmade, in very small batches. That is why they cost so much. They are like fine Swiss watch, which cost tens of thousands of dollars.

I have a couple of the AT84S models (precursor to the Sphinx, and made by ITM). Beautifully finished, superbly balanced, smooth trigger pull. Very nice, and that is what puts the Sphinx line out of my budget. I'm not knocking the line, but I know my limitations.

In fairness to Sphinx, comparing one of their current guns to a CZ-75 is like comparing an STI to an original 1911. Mechanically and in terms of design, they are quite different guns despite obvious external similarities.

Sphinx 3000 is said to be accurate like a SIG P210.

It's a pricey pistol indeed.

When you look at them they are obviously well put together, beautiful guns, and I guess, if you have the money, why not? That's a nice gun, M2.

I think when I wrote that, I was being jealous and spiteful:eek: .

Has anyone handled the new single action pistols? If so, how is that safety. I don't know if I'm the only one that has issues with the CZ safety, I have fairly large hands.

Sphinx makes very well made hand guns. They function like they are supposed to, and are reasonably accurate.
They are over priced, in so far as you can buy other brands that will perform as well, and cost less.
Still they are a good value if you have the bucks, and want one.

You don't have to buy a new Sphinx. Older ones are available. The older ones sell in the $400 - $700 range, and I've got two.

Great guns, and superior to my older BHP and several of my CZs. They are, for all intents and purposes, low-end custom guns.

Mags are hard to come by, as are some parts, but you can get some stuff directly from Sphinx, in Switzerland. (They don't break much, so parts generally are not an issue.) (CZ factory mags generally work, but the Sphinx ejector can bump them if they're not modified.)

As said, these are handbuilt, and precisly fitted pieces. Far above the fit of standard production firearms. I did some checking into them a while back and the general concensus was they're right up there with the Sig p210. Expensive, yes. You get what you pay for.
