I sure like mine, I have the 4". I like that it has a grip safety! I'm used to 1911's but the first time I shot it I was just as accurate with the XD so I went ahead and qualified with it for my carry permit amd got leather for it from Rafter S. :)

I'm with my friend Valkman, as I have the 4" service model
Springer XD-.45 ACP. I just added a new Streamlight TLR-1 to it this
past Saturday; as I got tired of losing power right a'round dark thirty,
and having to sit here with only a Streamlight Stiron. Sure is a comfy
feel'in knowing you got 14 rounds locked and loaded, just in case the
crack heads and meth addicts come knocking during the course of the
evening~!:uhoh:  :D

BTW, oh yes it shoots great too; NEVER has had a malfunction.

Valkman, I am also looking for a holster for my XD-45. But I have the Tactical model, i. e., 5" barrel. What made you decide to get your holster from Rafter S? Is the holster molded for an XD-45? Thanks.

Oh, sorry bigcim. I didn't mean to the distraction to your thread. Get the XD-45. It's a fun gun. Think reliability. It eats about any .45 ACP. The accuracy is quite good, but not quite as good as a modern 1911. But the grip is what snags most pistoleros. It is one of the most ergonomic I've gripped.

Now, most XD-45 cultists are clammering for a more compact version of the XD-45, which isn't going to happen until supply catches up somewhat with the heavy demand. Do you know about the two-tone XD-45? That may not be a big deal. The XD-45 Tactical has the more durable Melonite finish than the finishes on the other calibers. But parts are'nt on the market yet. But SA seems to be absolutely stand-up in customer service.

XD

I have the XD-9 and its fantastic--I've never had a single failure. I'm sure the 45 will perform just as well.

The only negative is that my wife can't handle it at all--she jams about every other round. Something about the grip safety just doesn't agree with her very small hands.

It's been 100% for me and if I didn't already have a Ruger P345, I would definately get the XD in 45.

I love my XD9 and XD40. Use the search function and I think you'll find plenty of discussion on the XD45 -- most of them very, very positive.

Of course, you have to be able to afford the ammo to feed the thing. That's the only reason I'll probably never own one.

The XD is a great series of pistols. You really can't go wrong with any of them. I love my 4" .45 version. Sweet shooter, that one.

My XD9 and XD45 are my favorite plastic handguns.

But since everyone's different, it pays to take a look at a few others to be sure of your choice.

My second choice for plastic guns is the new Taurus 24/7-PRO with the SA/DA trigger.

Third choice for me is is the Walther P99 but they don't make a .45 version.

Haven't yet tried the new S&W MP which again doesn't seem available in .45ACP.

Glocks just don't work for me, I've tried.

The EAA polymer guns I could like a lot becasue they will do cocked and locked, but mine don't feed JHP reliably enough for any serious use.

But I remain a 1911 guy when I can only take one handgun. The Kimber BP would seem ideal but the mags for mine have never delivered the feed reliabiltiy needed for serious usage.

I'm sure Rafter S makes holsters for the 5" also - email them as they're great to deal with.

I went with them after hearing from many of our members the past few years about how great they were. Brommeland is also supposed to send some leather for it so that'll be a good comparison since I already know how good Gary's stuff is.

I really like my XD45 Tactical. I have aver 3500 round's through it now & it work's great.
I have a BlackHawk Serta holster for it & it seem's to do the job O.K.:)

My XD-45 ACP Service Model is the best handgun that I've ever owned, shot or carried. I *highly* recommend it.

BTW - ALL XD-45 ACP models come with the melonite finish, except the BiTone models, which have a stainless steel slide.

My roommate has a bi-tone 5" Tactical XD45 as well.

He loves it, and I must admit, it was one of the softest shooting .45's I've ever handled. I was very very impressed with it.

I'm not a fan of the magazine release, as it feels a bit sticky to me. The factory magazines seem a little cheap in construction.

However, these are just small issues. It's a great gun.

Go for it. t's the first plastic pistol I ever thought of buying. After I picked it up, the ergonomics are perfect for me (YMMV). A few burps with WWB 230 gr JHPs, but it eats Remington 230 gr JHPs. Waiting for a High Noon holster. Great piece.;)

Had mine for several months now. Several hundred rounds through it - absolutely no problem.

i have the 4 in. model and love it...its not for small hands though..only problem ive had is i can only use the 9 round mag. not the guns fault... stupid california laws

I have the XD-45 5" tactical. Absolutely the best auto I've ever shot.

The only problem is now I want to trade all my other guns in to buy the other models of XD's.

I don't think you'll be sorry if you buy one.:)

SPRINGFIELD XD 45

I currently have my second 45 , this one is the BITONE Model.
All my XD's are 4in Service. A previous 45 I had I used in some Action Shooting had about 1000 rounds thru it without the first problem, and is now being used has a rental on a range.
I have a 9mm that has been a True Little Work Horse that has had
about 3000 rounds thru it with no issues.

Great little guns.

If my XD-45 had been the first handgun I had ever bought....it would be the only handgun I would have today......YES it's that good!!!

I wish that more American kids had studied mechanical engineering as well as those guys in Croatia. They designed a heckuva pistol when they brought out the HS2000/XD series. :)

My XD45 has been flawless and is as ergonomic as I could hope for.

FWIW, I think Croatia is only 100-miles from Austria. It wouldn't surprise me that much of the polymer technology and metallurgy was (ahem) "borrrowed". ;)

The Melonite treatment is something which the XD45 has, and I wish was incorporated into the XD9 and XD40-series.

I totally agree with my friend [nitesite Dave], as the Springer XD
is really a great handgun. All of you members who know me, know how
devoted I am too the .45 caliber SIG-SAUER P220A, right~? Well, it's
got some competition now, thats for sure~! Its already serving as my
primary home D' handgun. :D

Well I dont own one yet but the AMERICAN RIFLEMAN recently picked it as the NRA GUN OF THE YEAR. I think they also picked the 9MM when it first came out also. Just this newbies' 2cents worth.
