Anyone have any experience with the SA 1911 in 9mm?

How much should one run in full size stainless?

Good/bad/ugly on these?

i have one. it runs great. paid $799 for it back in the winter of 2008

I paid $1050, out the door, brand new, in February. It was my first auto, but 900 rounds later I have yet to have a malfunction.

If you are looking for a 9m 1911 because you just want to shoot cheaper ammo, it makes little sense to me to be looking at $800+ pistols

Look for the new RIA "Tactical 9mm". Got mine for $420. Love it. I'd been tempted by the SA and Kimber 9mm offerings for years, but never could bring myself to get one for the reason above. In the meantime I mostly scratched the 9mm 1911 itch with a $150 Star BM -- although extra mags for it weren't so cheap or easy to find.

I hada SA 1911 target in 9mm and shot ca 100 rounds through it before selling. The gun was totally reliable but I opted for a Dan Wesson PM-9 which was equally reliable and more accurate.

I have the loaded model (stainless). Picked it up Winter 2009 for about $900. The gun has performed flawlessly and is very accurate. I feel like I overpaid a little bit but I have no complaints about the gun other than wishing it had front strap checkering.

I should add that out of the box the trigger was not amazing. It did have a little creep. A gunsmith buddy of mine worked it over a little bit and now it is great.

I've shot the standard dimension Springfield 9mm 1911 and it's a great pistol. I OWN the EMP and it's even greater.
