I know a lot of people still hold on to the hate for springfield, and I have also seen many people say they will until the CEO apologizes, he asks for forgiveness in this video after explaining what happened.

This may have been posted before, and if so, I apologize.

Personally, I'm over the "hate springfield" thing and feel like his explanation is sufficient and genuine.

    Thoughts?

The problem is he can say whatever he wants and some people will never believe he's actually sorry. Some will think he's being genuine. Some will think he's trying to save face.

I was resentful of them for awhile, and whether it was a real apology or a business saving backpedaling strategy no longer matters to me. It happened. I've moved on.

    People do stupid things sometimes.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. It's hard to do the right thing and easy to say sorry.

I'm glad the boycott is easy for me because I don't want any Springfields.

I'm with 460Shooter: I take it for what it's worth to me personally and have moved on.

The video/apology does in fact help to bury the hatchet and move on, so thanks for posting.

I bought my XDs45 before I knew much about this.

I was fairly new at the time and liked the grip safety and how it felt.

Since then I’ve become a huge fan of the S&W M&P 2.0s. Besides everything else, I love they’re made in the USA by an American company. It’s something I can’t say about Springfield.

So he can apologize all he wants. If he’s not making his products here, and there is an alternative that is that I like I won’t be buying his product.

I think we all need to be far more careful before we start screaming at people and make sure that we're not just looking for something, anything, to be offended about.

That is the liberals' way, not ours.

Can someone post exactly what happened that they're mad about as I have not heard or read anything until now. Something involving an executive director? I own two of their 1911's and think they are fantastic pistols.

If he didn't personally drop the ball, why is he apologizing? And if he did drop the ball then why did he wait for outrage to ensue before issuing a press release with regard to the situation? Would've been a tactically sound move considering the vigilance of the gun community, don't you think? Or does he not want to raise his company profile as a manufacturer of murder and mayhem in a heavy anti gun state?

Maybe he's out of touch with the gun community? Sipping drinks on the beach when he should've been slugging it out on the Saint QC line lol. Bathing in NFA perfume while us plebes smell like a Century arms bathroom. Like a good many well to do business guys maybe he only gets what "it" is when it kicks him in his pocket book? Spreadsheet blues got him down maybe. He'll make it up to us and show how sincere he is by refusing to do business with the state of Illinois, Ronnie Barrett come lately. Nope, just a video apology. I personally think he's only sorry cause he got caught. He's fought so much anti gun legislation that he kept his business in Illinois. After the near-tear I was waiting for him to get clark kent on me and rip his street clothes off to reveal his 2A super crusader uniform. This thread is worthless without pics of him in that gold jacket.

Never mind, I just read and watched a couple of video's and will say I have no hate for either company because of the stupidity of one person.

More than likely, but on the same token, unless you hold smith and wesson, ruger and a few others to the same standard, it’s hard to fairly hold Springfield as traitors. To my knowledge, this is the only gun company to do something politically harmful to the 2A and apologize formally for it. All others have simply been given amnesty through some sort of unofficial statute of limitations.

What I don’t understand is why they stay in states that are so anti gun. If I made a product and the state did the things MA, IL, NY, CA etc do to gun companies I’d move my business to a friendlier state who would welcome me with incentives and a friendlier place for my employees.

Probably why you’re not a CEO, no offense. They make a product and clearly are gonna support the market they are in, but at the end of the day I’m sure a cost analysis determined it wasn’t productive to move states. Same reason companies stay in states that tax higher, cost analysis.

Remember they are a family owned/operated business with locals they see every day working for them. Their mayor pointed out that they support hundreds if not thousands of jobs in their community and state. That's plenty of reason to stay with the people who work for you that don't have the flexibility to move to TN.

Illinois passed a bill that required Illinois gun dealers to have a state FL in addition to their FFL to do business. Only dealers who sold less than 10 guns/year and big box stores like Cabelas/Gander were exempt. SA and Rock River's lobbying group the Illinois Firearms Manufacturer's Assoc. cut a deal to get an exemption for their members and the price was not opposing the bill. SA and RR claim that they had no knowledge that the exemption deal was taking place.

In that case the CEO's seemingly genuine apology just sounds lame now. He was either very disconnected from what was going on in his organization or he decided to roll the dice in hopes it would sweep nicely under the rug.

Folks will move on I'm sure, people still buy Ruger's and I'm sure everybody remembers some of Bill's blatant anti 2A transgressions...

I am honestly hoping that they have truly recanted, as we need all of the help we can get at this point. If they see the error of exempting themselves at the sake of others, then I want them on our side, though I may have to be a little more conscientious with future purchases...

No time for hatin'. My EMP4 carry runs like a champ. Fabricators and consumers need each other, and division only plays into the hands of the grabbers.
