I bought a SOCOM II when they first came out, it has the cluster rail. I mounted an Aimpoint on it. Now I want to add the 3x magnifier. But this is not the extended rail version rifle and it would not provide the eye relief I need.

So, is there any way to get an extension like the extended rail version of the SOCOM II? So I can mount this thing close enough to see through?

Other than buying a whole new rifle that is?

Thanks.

I was told both by Vltor who makes the forend/rail system and SA that you have to by the extended version seperately altogether. With the standard SII rail w/o the over the receiver rail extension, you use the only available mounting, screw hole on the left side of the receiver to mount the Vltor rail system, therefore you can't add on a L-bracket rail over the receiver while using the Vltor rail.

This leaves you with the only option of sending it to SA to have the extended version put on. They wont sell the forend by itself and neither will Vltor, trust me i've tried. They told me it's $479 to have the standard Vltor rail put on and $587 to have the extended Vltor rail equipped to your rifle.

If you decide you want send yours back and get the extended rail version I'de be more than happy to buy your standard Vltor rail from you at a reasonable price and then I can install it on my Socom 16.

Let me know if this is of any interest to you.

get one of those picatinny rail clip guide thingies, you know the ones that install where the stripper clip guide is? i think fulton armory has them.
