I have recently purchased a Springfield EMP, which I plan to use as a replacement for my XD9 as a carry weapon. I am new to the 1911 design, most of my experience has been with my Beretta and XDs.
When I carry the EMP, I carry it "cocked and locked". When at home, I place the gun in a pistol vault by the bed for quick access.
My question is, will leaving the gun in the cocked and locked condition cause any damage? I am currently leaving it that way in the pistol vault, but if this will cause damage over an extended period of time, I will look at alternatives.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
