Hey I have a 1911 extracter clocking/ loose extracter/ FTE on the last round issue. So I naturally suspected the firing pin tension/ firing pin stop issue.

So im looking for a Firing pin stop for a springfield GI. Any suggestions? Ive heard they take a 38 super firing fin. should I get a 38 super firing pin stop? Or just a regular one?

Buy the EGW oversized stop and fit it (or pay to have it done) to your slide. A dramatic improvement. The rear end of the firing pin is the same diameter regardless of caliber. SA uses a smaller firing pin tip than a normal .45 ACP. FTE is usually an extractor tension issue. Clocking of the extractor while not good, will normally not cause a FTE, just erratic ejection.

Exactly what i needed to know! that is the exact one i already had my eye on. Im gonna pull the trigger tonight.

I put one on my Mil-Spec and it made a world of difference. I put a very small bevel on the bottom where the hammer rides against it, and, along with stopping the clocking issue, it helps reduce felt recoil. May be my imagination though, because I have no real way to prove it other than the seat-o-pants-ometer.

Thanks for the input! The pin stop has always been loose in my gi causeing jamming on the last shot and make the extractor move laterally (forward and back and slight clocking. Also it was actually stamped in the front making hard to remove as the firing pin get caught on it (just strait pisses me off). pass that great pistol. Cant wait to get rid of this pin stop lol:rolleyes:

A word of warning......if you fit yours as snug as I did mine, it will be a bear to get back in when you strip and clean the pistol. Everything has to be lined up PERFECTLY. If your extractor is not rotated exactly correct, the FPS will not go. Takes me a few tries to get the extractor lined up while depressing the firing pin and slide in the stop all at the same time.

The results are well worth the effort though.
