Fellow THR members,

Just wanted to let everyone know two tornados hit Sprinfield, IL pretty bad Sunday night. We're at my parents house now, my family is fine, but our house is trashed. Several news papers are running photos of the damage, some of the pictures their using is of our street. To the right is a big ball of sheet metal from one of the businesses near by, to the left there a few pieces of sheet metal wrapped around some trees. Behind that is a white house with some siding ripped off exposing the old green wood siding near the top, thats our neighbors house with the red piket fence. Our house is behind her's it isn't really visible in the picture, but we suffered a lot of damage, structural damage. There is several large gashes in our attic area on the side of the house, walls are cracked, busted windows, garage is leaning over, etc... Its pretty bad I think the house might be a total loss. It's been a couple of really, really long days, been working from sunrise to sunset trying to clean up and protect what I can. I'm still waiting on the insurance adjuster to look at the house so we can start moving forward. I don't know when I'll have a chance to get online again, I just wanted to let everyone know whats going on, it'll probably be another couple days with out power and I dunno about the telephones. I just wanted to let the guys in the 1911 group buy know the guns where ordered and as soon as I receive them I'll send them out asap. When I get some time again I'll toss up some pics, and say some more.

Thank you,
David

Good luck DH. My son's place is just south of Wabash. Every house around theirs received damage. They never even lost a shingle or tree branch. Looks worse than the 1978 Easter ice storm.

Sorry to hear that. At least you are all well. Hang in there. I lived just outside of Marion Il. (and worked in Marion) many years ago when it got hammered. Tornados are strange and terrible things.

My wife's family lives in Pana (1 hour SE of Springfield), and we were up there Sunday afternoon. As we left (just before 8pm) we saw the light show that you all were getting. Glad to hear you made it through ok.

I'll be driving up through that way tomorrow; I imagine I'll see some pretty interesting things.

DHFirearms: sorry to hear your place was trashed by the tornado but I'm glad to hear your family is OK.

Glad no one got hurt. No biggie on the group buy, you have more important
thing to worry about but thanks for the heads up. If things get delayed I'm sure we'll all live. :D

Glad you're all ok. We had our run with a tornado here on November 6th last year, luckily it missed me by about 4 blocks. It's still pretty messed up here, so be prepared for a few months of the next thing to hell.

I'm in Decatur and the storm only missed us by a couple of miles. I was smack dab in the middle of the tornado of '96 here in Decatur. Was sitting in the house when the roof lifted off. Scared the hell out of me.

It doesn't bother me the least bit that its not gun related. We are more concerened with these peoples lives, safety and property. If we don't take care of each other, who will?
