There is a milspec 45 ss package on slickguns for 644 shipped. Comparison to the R1 or the Ruger SR 1911? About the same price.

I don't really know how it would compare function wise as I only have the SR 1911. I do like the fact that the Springfield is all stainless. I would like the looks of my Ruger better if the grip safety, mainspring housing, safety & slide lock were stainless instead of black.

The springer hardware is not all stainless. The slide release, safety, and grip safety are MIM, at least they are on the Loaded series, I can't see why they would be different on the Milspec.

Springfield is at the top of that stack. Ruger is a good gun for the money. Remington - I'd give them a few more years to figure it out. They're still learning. Don't worry about the small parts. You'll replace most of them over time with better quality.

I'm lucky enough to have one of each. They all gave my a few FTFs but only in the first 100 rounds or so and only when using 8 round mags. 7 round mags were never a problem.
Now the eat anything I thow at them. With any mag.
The Ruger gives u more for the money, hammer, trigger, SS, sights and beaver tail.
My Mispec is the parkerized version. She is the closest thing that I have to a real throwback 1911. I love the feel of my parkerized Springer.
My Remington R1 is the SS version and u can get them now on CDNN cheap including a $75 factory rebate.
They all shoot great. My Springer has the best grouping at 25 yards. The Remy seems to tame recoil a little better. The Ruger seems to be more solid.
Would not trade any of them.

My only 1911 now is a Springfield Milspec... Tightest, most accurate 1911 I have owned. Have long since sold my Kimbers, S&Ws 1911s;) I do like the no frills looks of the Milspec, and if you get one, look for a NM serial prefix.

I have several FTFs in the first 200 rounds with my Remington and 7-round mags. Since then, though, they've cleared up and not returned, no matter what brand of FMJ ammo I use.

I've had two Springfield Milspecs, both functioned flawlessly, even with JHPs. I've also owned a Para and a couple Armscors and had problems. I've since moved away from 1911s but if I ever bought another one it would be a Milspec.

Unfortunately I can't comment on the Remington or Ruger but they certainly don't have the same long experience and track record that S.A. does with the platform.

I own the Ruger SR1911, and the only issue I've had is with bad ammo/primers...nothing I can attribute to the gun. Can't say you'd be unhappy with any of them, but I've been VERY happy with my Ruger. Everything from the BBQ to the trails, she's a looker and a fighter, and eats absolutely everything.

This doesn't specifically address the OP inquiry, but I have the Springfield Milspec parkerized, and a Colt 1991, blued. The slide operates a little slicker on the Colt, but I haven't fired it very much. I haven't yet done a side by side comparison for accuracy, but the Springfield is much more accurate than I had expected. Never had a jam with either, but iIve only used factory 230 gr. FMJ. My two cents, for what it's worth... Need to feed them some JHP and see what happens.

I can only comment on the Ruger. I have the SR1911. I like it. Its my bedside gun and I really like it. I think it looks sharp, its made in America, and its a Ruger. I also think they are well made, and I shoot mine all right.

Get whatever makes you happy. If you don't like it, you can always sell it, or hang on to it and give it to your kids later, or have a backup gun.

Hope that helps,

I have the Ruger and the SA mil-spec SS. I never owned the Remington because I think most of their products are junk. IMO the best value for the dollar is non of the above. In my experience with the cheaper 1911s, the RIA is the best for the money. The SA is a close second and the Ruger is 3rd.

Springfield for sure. Great quality and lifetime warranty are hard to beat.
