Ok well I'm a new member, I stumbled accross these forums and liked what I have read so far.

I recently turned 21 and am deciding which gun I want to buy for my CCW. One of my friends recently bought a springfield XD .40 with the 4 inch barrel (midsize), and I shot it really well. But then when i went to the gun store today I noticed the sub-compact version, and the man who worked there told me even though the barrel is shorter, the accuracy is not much different at ALL between the two.

Could someone who has shot both of these guns, preferably both in the .40 caliber, please tell me if they have noticed a difference in accuracy between the SC version and the larger version? I believe i want an XD and if there is no noticeable accuracy difference then i will get the smaller version.

Also, i have been looking at the 24/7's, but have heard some negative and positive comments about them in the .40 caliber. From your guys' experience, which one would you recommend.

There probably isn't any mechanical accuracy differences between the two. It will all be up to what you are capable of doing with a short sight radius. Think about trying to aim accurately with a little short stubby two inch pencil, compared to a four inch pencil. Since you are planning on CCW it, an encounter will most likely be close enough, that the accuracy you are capable of will be fine with the short barrel.

Haven't heard any negatives about the 24/7, got a link?
