I've read some old forums downing the 24/7 vs the xd in 45 acp. I just wanted to weigh in. I have owned both. The xd was a jamomatic with various types of ammo. Very unreliable! The 24/7 45 which I now carry will digest anything I put through it including my hand loads very accurately. Hands down 24/7 over xd in 45 acp. I will never ever own another xd. Even after the break in period it the xd jammed every other clip and wasn't worth the money I spent on it. My 24/7 will spit out 1'' groups all day long with no jams regardless of ammo. The cheap made xd's are made in Croatia not the US. I am aware Taurus is made in Brazil, which is a more industrialized country than Croatia. The xd's were meant to replace the crappy psp's they were using and imported into the US as some tactical badass which it is not.

Wow that's crazy. Out of all the handguns I've shot including the xd and taurus... The only ones that have been 100 percent flawless were the xd's and is the reason it is my carry.
I owned a taurus and the damn pos never made it through a magazine without problems. Tried at least 10 types of ammo.
OP: This is what you will find lol. Some people have the best experience with something while it is the worst thing ever for someone else.

The Tarus and the XD will have people that like and use them. Now, when considering price and cost of ownership, I would advise someone looking for a gun in this class to go for Glock, S&W M&P, or Ruger. These are the guns that there is no question about quality or function.
My wife's XDm 3.8 45 has been flawless through about 200 rounds: JHP (185 & 230 grain), cast (190 grain SWC & 230 grain TC) and plated (230 grain Berry's HBRN). Seems to us the Croatians have been doing a good job. But that's only one in a row and hardly marks a trend.

I've owned quite a few Glocks.
And I've owned two S&W M&P pistols.
And I've owned a few Ruger pistols.
They were all good pistols.
However, I now carry an XD.
There aint nothing wrong the XD.
If your's was a jamomatic then it was a lemon.
What did Springfield Armory say when you sent it back to them to fix?

Though I haven't ever owned a 24/7 of any variety, I have owned several Taurus handguns, including a few autos. I didn't have any problems with them.
My only experience with XD is my Springfield XDm 4.5 in .40S&W that I recently purchased. Though it doesn't quite fit my hand like my M&P does, it's absolutely reliable so far. I've been using Rainier plated HPs lately without issue. Heck, it didn't have any problems with the 175gr SWCs and 140gr truncated cast bullets I briefly used (500 of each).
I'm a fan.

Having 4 in the safe, none of my Springfields, the XD9, XD9sc, XD45c, or the XDs45 have any feeding or extraction issues. Too bad the OP got hold of one that could have been fixed by Springfield. It happens....the things are mechanical and we all know machines can and do break.
It is also well documented that the XD series has somewhat of an issue with the SWC bullet design. I've proven it to myself....but no issues with the HP or RN/FMJ that I've tested. An online search will provide the details, up to and including diagrams showing the SWC feed problem occurs. This was resolved in the XDm and XDs series.
Edit: Some reloaders have gotten around the SWC issue by adjusting seating depths and/or using an ever so slight roll crimp. Since I shoot ball ammo (practice) or HP (carry), I've never bothered to try it.

I own a 24/7 and XDm 5.25, both 45's. 24/7 never gave me a problem but I did have to take some sharp edges off the chamber to feed SWC's. XDm 5.25 hasn't given me a problem with any bullet shape. Both guns have about 5,000 rounds thru them. Both are accurate and easily shootable, but my preference is for the XDm.

I have a XD with thousands of rounds through it. Super reliable. Would take it to combat without question. The old Taurus 24/7 OSS is probably their semi auto pistol (excluding copycat designs) and while it had decent reputation, most would not consider it in the se class as the XD. YMMV

I keep a home defense weapon on each floor of my home. One of them is an original XD .45ACP. As others have stated, I don't even try and run SWCs through it anymore but have NEVER had a single issue otherwise.
I have the xd45 with the safety. Ive owned the xd9 and xd40sc. I regret getting rid of the latter 2. They were all flawless except as stated above (I foolishly tried swc ammo also). I just wonder if you may have had some faulty magazines. Irregardless, if you are happy with your Taurus, that's all that matters.

Taurus has had a handful of guns with the 24/7 name attached to them over the past couple of years. What model the OP is referring to would be difficult to know unless he posts a picture or a link the the particular pistol.
I own both A XD service 4" and a 24/7 OSS DS 5.25". Both are 45's with less than 1000 rounds each. Here's a few observations I made over the last couple of years.
The XD, despite giving up 1.25" of barrel length, clocks considerably faster than the 24/7 with every factory and handload tested.
Accuracy, at least by me, goes to the XD. But others have shot the Taurus more accurately than I can. I have a CZ52, while fun to shoot, shoots much better in other peoples hand than mine.
NEVER had a feeding problem with either gun with factory ammo. I also reload for the 45's and they will shoot 200 SWC TL and 165-175 SWC without a problem provided I watch the AOL of the loads.
I like both guns equally, I even took both out today to shoot. By the time I finished with sighting in a new scope on my PSL, and battling a weird swarm of sweat bees, I called it a day.
Bottom line; i would trust my life to either of these fine guns with no trepidation.
As always, YMMV.

A very biased rant and not really sure what you are trying to prove. As stated by others, your test sample is very small and minute. EVERY manufacturer can have a lemon, Glock, S&W, H&K, Beretta, you get the point. Rants like yours against any maker are easy to find on the internet, what matters is the occurance of issues. If you take the cumulative of issues between Taurus and XD they are on opposite spectrums. Not here to bash either one as I own guns from both and I have had no issues except with one Taurus which I sold. Also did you even give Springfield a chance to fix the issue? I know it's frustrating when a firearm doesn't function properly but you have to give them a chance to rectify it. That's what I did with my Taurus 908, but they could never fix the problem. A shame because it was a beautiful gun. If you haven't done your due diligence to send it in and give them a chance then don't get on here and bash a company. I've said my peace.

I don't think I've ever read Springfield XD and jamomatic in the same post before. I wouldn't give up my XD45 for any other pistol for nightstand duty.
