Springfield XD 9mm Doesn't Group

I recently purchased a Springfield XD 9mm and upon shooting it several weeks ago I noticed that it shot high. At the time I was shooting steel at 7 and 15yards and I continually had to hold 6 o'clock.

Today I put the XD on paper and I experienced 6-8" groups at 25 yards using Winchester white box. I also had several flyers outside the group. I asked a fellow instructor to shoot the XD and he experienced the same sized groups in the same area of the B27 target. I'm not worried about the shooting high as I plan to replace the sights with night sights and I can fix that part.

I also tested the XD using Winchester 147 grn Ranger SXT and experienced a more consistant 6" group.

I'm not thrilled with this type of accurracy and I'm seriously thinking about calling Springfield and inquiring as to a solution for the problem. If Springfield can't fix it I may have the barrel recrowned or maybe I'll just sell it.

Has anyone else had problems with large groups with their XD. Not trying to flame any XD owners just looking for solution to problem.

I own a number of XD's including 9mm's. There's only two possible problems. The gun. The shooter.
All guns require practice, even if you're moving from one brand to another. The two 9's I own shoot differently, The sub and service models.
I've never had a problem with any of the XD''s, however I've had a number of problems with ME.

what bbl length did you get?

try it off a sandbag and use the same point of aim, and see where the bullets fly from there. alternatively, it won't cost much to ask an on-duty gunsmith to check your zero, other than a box of ammo.

best i can do is a 3" group at 25 yards, 6" group at 50 yards rapid fire... i handed mine to a gunsmith and he put five in a sub 1/2" group lol.

I've never owned an XD, but I've put several hundred rounds through different vairants in 9mm, .40 and .45. Some needed the sight drifted over one way or another, but all of them grouped very well. My impression is the XD is an accurate pistol. If your's isn't I would call Springfield's customer service and let them fix it.

I have a springfield xd9 subcompact..fires terrifically, and my grouping is pretty good..not at first..but again..Ya gotta get used to the gun...I wouldn't be without mine..ever..its the best 9mm I ever owned, and I have it for over 2 years..

The first time I shot a glock I hit way low. It definately wasn't the gun!

How does the xd9 sub compare to a glock 26?

Normally, I would agree with you regarding it possibly being the shooter. However, I actually shoot quite a bit, usually thousands of rounds a year and I teach shooting full time. I humbly submit that I can shoot.

I'm disappointed with this particular gun's lack of accuracy.

6" groups at 25 yards to me is very respectable-very. I have a G19 and Smith M & P 9 that have had alot of custom work done on them by the very best in the industry. Those two guns will shoot those 3" groups at 25 yards, BUT I CAN'T.

I have a SA XD40 sub compact and I have experienced some shot group difference when using different/cheap ammo. I have a 3 to 4" shot group when using Federal JHP my normal self defense ammo. You shot crap you get crappy results

I always thought XDs were made to shoot 6 o'clock. Have you called Springfield? (after you shoot it off a bag)
