Making a Glock more like an XD?

I have a Glock 26 and Springfield XD Compact 9mm. I have always liked shooting the 26 and have never really had an issue with Glock triggers. However, the more I shoot he the XD the more I like the feel of the XD trigger. I'm curious about Glock trigger modifications/options. What's available that might make the Glock trigger more XD-like? I think it's a matter of making it smoother rather than lighter, but don't have enough experience with Glock modifications to know.

Go here www.glocktalk.com and do a search. There's hope for the Glock trigger. But you must consider that the XD is really a single action. So the XD would really still come out better after some modification.

The famous Glock 25 cent trigger job will smooth out the trigger. It will only lighten the trigger slightly, but it will feel nicer.
You could install a 3.5 pound connector to make the trigger significantly lighter.
Don't forget when shooting multiple shot strings with a Glock, after the first shot, just release the trigger very slightly to reset. With practice, it feels almost like a single action trigger.

And I have to admit, I very much admire your collection. I have the 20 and wouldn't mind the 29 and the EAA but I doubt very much I'll ever have an entire line up like that. Still love The Ten.

Quite honestly, there isn't any way to get a Glock trigger to mimic a XD. I've done the .25 cent trigger job, the connectors, fiddled with the springs, it still sucks.

The XD trigger will always feel different than the Glock. Best thing to do just buy an XD, its not like they're expensive.

Glocktalk has mounds of info on how to detail strip a Glock. I can detail strip a Glock in the same amount of time it takes to field strip a 1911. Its that easy. Go for the plunge, try out the 25 cent trigger job, see if polishing the internals help you. For me I felt the trigger pull was smoother, it didn't stage as much as before. In the end, the trigger still sucked and I got rid of it.

I had really good succes on my g22 with .25 trigger job and connector. The trigger pull is a little longer with 3.5, but it is much light and smoother. The main advantage is the almost instant reset, get back on target and smack it again.

Thumbs up. I liked the xd trigger but did not like the extremly high bore axis which made a 9mm recoil like a .40 and .40 like a 10mm.

Try either the Ghost Ultimate 3.5# or the Scherer connector. Both offer less mush in the trigger pull than the factory 3.5# connector. By all means try the polishing and learn to shoot from reset, as has been suggested. Your Glock won't be an XD....and that's a good thing.

Although the stock XD trigger is slightly better than the stock Glock trigger*, the Glock trigger is somewhat more receptive to custom work. Here are some shops that do nice work on the Glock.

I had a Vanek trigger on my late, lamented Glock 35. It broke at under two pounds, was smooth as glass, and totally reliable with all kinds of ammo. Highly, highly recommended.

Dale Rhea is the grand-daddy of Glock trigger work. Not quite as nice as Vanek, but it's a drop-in kit.

Rafael Sotelo's drop-in Glock trigger kits. Yes, they really do break at two pounds. Again, not as refined as the Vanek trigger, but less than a third of the price. My personal favorite in a drop-in Glock trigger.

* - If you can deal with the long, mushy reset on the XD. I can't. One of the things that makes the Glock so shootable is the short, crisp reset on an otherwise undistinguished trigger.
