Night Sights for Springy XD

I just acquired a Springfield XD40 at a great price and would like to add night sights to it with the money I saved. I thought I'd read somewhere, probably here, that the XD would use sights for a different pistol. I think it was the Sigs, but I'm not sure. I have seen a compact XD with night sights that I did not like. They were the two dot sights where you needed to place the rear sight dot under the front sight dot. I'm looking for "normal" night sights. Any help would be appreciated. I'm searching this so that when I go to gunshop and they tell me they don't have night sights for the XD, I can check to see if they have the ones listed for another gun that would work.

XDs can use Sig Front and Rear Sights. Get a pair of Mepros. They make very nice high quality NSs. Good luck!

Rumor has it that the front sight can be a real bugger to remove. Unfortunately there is not a sight pusher offered for the XD. For more info try www.hs2000talk.com for more info on sights. It's a very popular topic.

Yeah that front sight is really on there on some of the XDs. My smith had to destroy the original to put the Sig sight on. I used some Siglights from CDNN. They had new take-offs from LEO guns (some PD did not want night sights), for $26 a set. They sit low and are more rounded, allowing for a more snag-free setup than the original XD sights. As I carry and XD CCW quite a bit that was a definate plus. I have an extra set laying around somewhere I will be selling off later on. I don't know where it is right now as I packed everything to move.

Grayrider: Was that from CDNN's website or catalog? I just got a new catalog and I'll look in there. I'll also give the website a look. If I can ask, how much did your smith charge you to install them? Just to have an idea if the locals here are expensive or not. I've been told that if I buy the sights from a local shop that the install would probably be free, but $26 would be a way to go if the charge for install was not too ridiculous (sp).

I'm not Grayrider but FYI just got the new CDNN catalog. Price has gone up to 60$.

As an FYI, Springfield will charge just over $100 for XD night sights installed. The turnaround is about 3 weeks. I believe that you have a choice of two different styles, the figure eight dot on dot, and the three horizontal dot variety, which is what I chose.
