Has anyone been able to get your hands on one yet ?? The SA website says they have begun shipping. If so, how does it compare to a G19, not only technically but cost and availibility. I lilke the interchangable backstraps for one. It seems you get a bunch of accessories with the gun, which it always a plus. If the price is right it certainly would be a consideration. Thanks..

I have a .40 xdm and i like it, the xdm's biggest advantage IMHO is the match grade barrel, mine is very accurate. i have lots of shooting buddies that shoot glocks, they seem to like to shoot my xdm (maybe cause is holds 17 rds) I have not had any problems and its super easy to field strip. Another guy has 2 xd's and likes the trigger on the xdm better but i think it is just what feels good to you, i bought the xdm cause i have large hands and the largest grip strap fits good, as for price i bought mine new in jan for 580.00 plus tax (black over black) not sure what they are going for now, but no hicup's so far not sure if i helped or not

I have seen both the 40 and the 9mm. I shot the 40 and fell in love with it. I am thinking of getting the 40. My son want me to get the 9mm (he thinks we over do for a zombie attack) what do you think?

A buddy bought one in 9mm locally just last week, so they're out and around.

I spent some time with a 9mm a few months ago. Loved it, but ended up loving a Glock 34 just a bit more. :)

We have quite a few of them at the shop I work in part-time in GA. They do not really compare to the G19. It is quite a bit larger. This is a service/match weapon. I have not held the two side by side, but I would say just by looking that it is a little larger than a G17. They do shoot quite nicely.

The fit and finish are good. The slide, on the ones I have messed with, are nice and tight and I did not notice any play. The backstraps are interchangeble, but I do not really care for the grip texture. Overall it seems like a very nice gun. As stated in the other post I liked the G34 just a little better and that is the way I went. It was between the XDM, M&PL, and the 34. I just shoots Glocks better.

We sell them for around $600. That seems to be about the going rate in this area. I do not think you can go wrong with it.

XDm-9

I got my XDm 9mm last fall and absolutely love it. I previously owned an XD45 and it was a great shooter as well. The XDm 9 feels great and I think is more accurate than the original XD's.
I bought it when they were doing the XD-"gear up" promotion and just last week got my two X-tra Mags and double mag holder. There was a guy at the gun show last fall wanting $60 per mag for the 19 rounders. If you take the $135 or so for the gear I got off the $589 purchase price I figure it was a pretty good deal for a great shootong and great feeling pistol.:):):)

I was always leaning toward the G19. For me..It seems to be as LARGE as I want to go. However a friend has a XD-45 and really loves the gun. Has nothing but good comments on how it feels. Sooooo the quest continues. Thanks for the Help.

I have an XDm in 40 cal

Most accurate pistol I own, and fun to shoot. 16 + 1, match grade barrel, great ergonomics. One of my favorites. I have about 500 rounds through mine and it has performed flawlessly.

I tried one about a month ago at my range.

I was impressed because the normal XD felt very blocky to me, that and the 19+1 was a lot of capacity on a 9mm.

IMO Glocks are now like one size fits all underwear, they work but are nothing special. The XD-M and M&P's are really better guns in the striker fired market (again IMO so I don't hurt any feelings).

The g-19 cost appx 500.00 and the xdm at gun shows 630.00 at cabelas/scheels around 695.00 as said b4 it depends how if feels and how you react to shooting each type of pistol. If you could rent each at a range in your area or let a buddy lend you his take both at the same time and shoot for effect 10 rds each with mutiple targets marking each and see which you naturally have a better accurracy with. Its harder to train yourself to like than to naturally have better results with the one you do better with . good luck and don't forget to give us a range report...

Awesome Gun!

OK I bought one, then went back three weeks later and purchased a second one. They are both the XDM 9mm. One is Stainless the other is all black. Very Reliable. Never a hiccup either gun so far. [about 400rds each]I like the Match-Grade Barrel and the Crisp trigger. It really is a very Accurate gun. I could write about this gun Forever :D

The Best to You and Yours!

Frank

PS-Cabela's is loaded up with XDM's-they are Reasonably priced-My Cabela's will price match to keep the business.

I compared the gun in an earlier post of this topic to a G17. When I was at the shop yesterday I started thinking about it and wanted to see how they compared in size. With the XDM sitting on the G17 they are almost the exact same size. It appeared to me that the grip on the XDM is slightly longer than the G17 but everything else is about equal.

I have continued to play with the XDM when we have some down time. I will admit that is has begun to grow on me the more I look at it. I still do not like it better than my M&P (the grip just fits me great), but it is very nice. I may have to pick one up. I just wish the grip texture was a little closer to the original.

The XD 45 compact and the Glock 19 are literally about the same size. I find the XD 45 to be far more comfortable than the Glock 21, 30, or the 21 or 30 SF. But in 9mm, I think the 19 is more comfortable than the XD. Wow, I suck!

I only look for XDm 40. I just went to the Houston and San Antonio gunshows, yesterday and today. Houston had them starting at $549 (blk/grn) and $559 (blk/blk). San Antonio... crummy show and only 2. One was $585 (blk/grn) and the other was $640 !!!! (blk/blk).

Local Cabelas in Buda, $619 (blk/blk or blk/grn).

Ammo was a bit pricey, running $21 - $40, depending on brand/type.

The XDM is actually a Full Size, 4.5" barrel gun. It's more equivalent to a G17 than a G19. When you hold a G17 (or a G22) side-by-side with an XDM you realize it's a monster-sized weapon. It's longer, wider, taller and a whole lot heavier than the G17. I'm not complaining, but some have the misconception that the XDM is a Compact-sized weapon and it's really not...It's more like a jumbo Full Size, though not quite a 5" tactical or G17 longslide.
So if you're considering it, I hear it's a great weapon, but you should check out the size of it before buying sight-unseen. I had an XDM and a G23 in my hands and the size of the XDM killed it for me. Felt wonderful, as does my XD, but I knew I couldn't effectively carry it, so I opted for the G23.

LOVE my XD(m) 9mm

I picked up a really nice XD(m), NIB at the Wanemacher show in Tulsa yesterday for about five and a half. ($60-$70 cheaper than I could find ANYWHERE, on-line and/or in local shops.)

I cleaned it, take-down was very simple and quick. (Passes my first test with flying colors!)

I took it to the range for a trial run this morning and boy did it shine!

I've shot it side by side with a G17 and can say, unequivocally, that the XD(m) performs much better for me than the Glock. In slow, deliberate strings, both pistols performed identically. When I went to rapid fire strings, 5 shots, breathe, 5 shots, the XD(m) provided control and recoil recovery much faster/better than the Glock. (Maybe it is because I have ham-hocks for hands and the large palm swell that came in the briefcase with the XD gear and the grip just "worked" better for me....)

I really believe that the modular grip possibilities will come in handy for tons of folks who just find the Glock grips "not quite right" for their large or small hands. Folks with "normal" hands may not realize or appreciate this benefit.

Regardless, I never viewed the G17, or the XD(m) as a very good concealed carry weapon for me, prefer my G30 and/or my P7 PSP for carry-a-bility. The point of the XD(m), again for me, is two-fold:

1)to support my initial start in basic pistol competition in a caliber that won't break the bank,
AND
2)as a "plan B" weapon when my HD shotgun is out of ammo and I need to back-up to an alternate weapon. With only 200 rounds through the XD(m).

NOTE: After this morning, I am very close to trusting it for both purposes. No failures to feed and VERY accurate when shooting in a rapid manner.

My shooting 'heart and soul' still belongs to my 1911's chambered in .45 ACP, but I am really starting to LOVE this "souped up" XD more than I had expected.

I'd say if you are wanting a nice shooter, and are not interested in safe queens, go for it! The XD(m) BEGS to be taken out and shot, and shot and shot....and so on. Just make sure you have plenty of ammo on hand.

Went to the range today..The guy beside me had an XDM in 40..We talked a bit and he asked if I wanted to shoot it..Sure!!! Shot 30 feet at a paper plate with a nickle sized orange marker spot for center...5 shots.. 2 were about 2 inches from center at 11 o'clock.. the other 3.. same hole inside the orange dot... I told him you got a keeper... to have a stranger do that with your gun (this guy only shot about 100 rounds through it).. When you get used to it you can do better....
