Does anyone know when the XD/HS2000 was first produced?

Yesterday I was browsing through the new Cheaper Than Dirt catalog and saw some normal cap (15 rnd) mags for the XD.

I know that the XD is only a few years old. I don't believe that the HS2000 is much older. How can there be normal cap mags for a pistol the was made after the AWB?

Even if the the Croatians made the for the HS2000 wouldn't the be illegal to import under the AWB?

I believe what you saw was the mags for the beretta 92?

Then again I might be wrong.

It is possible to take the XD-40 mags and use them in the XD-9.
The XD-40 mags will hold 15 rounds of 9mm rounds.
I have done this with a range rental XD-9.

A friend of mine with an XD9 showed me this:

http://gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=20491708

New (17) round 9mm hi-capacity magazine for a Springfield XD9. The auction is for ONE mag. These are the same Eagle produced pre-ban Beretta type mags that were converted to XD9 configuration by Springfield Armory. They will also function in a Beretta, so they remain 100% legal. These mags are for the XD9 pistol, and NOT the compact or subcompact versions. They will NOT function reliably in XD9 COMPACT or SUBCOMPACT pistols. Shipping $5($1 additional shipping for items purchased and shipped at the same time, so please check my other auctions). I accept money orders, Paypal(buyer must pay their 3% fee, shipping must be to a confirmed address), and personal checks(must wait for bank clearance prior to shipping). No out of country sales. *NOT FOR SALE WHERE PROHIBITED

the hs2000/springfield XD will take a variety of pistol magazine. beretta, sig,S&W. little work.

check out http://www.hs2000talk.com and do a search. its been talked about thousands of times over their.

bereta is closest but is not complete flush fit and sometimes the ejector gets broke. though believe springfield came out with heavier duty ejector.

chances are cheaper than dirt is selling some promag or worse brand of magazines.
if you have XD9 just buy xd40 mags and use them. believe the leo Xd magazines are 14/12-9/40

The only mags that have a properly fitting baseplate are the Springfield mags. There are a number of mags that can be made to fit and function in the XD, but I still prefer the XD40 mags in my XD 9 because they fit like they were made for the gun (which, of course, they were).

I can get them locally for $22 a pop. I've seen the online for as little as $15 plus freight.

Use the xd40 mags in the xd9. Converted mags are longer than factory. They can break the ejector from slamming the mags into the gun. Some converted mags also don't lock the slide back after the last round. Even on my xd40 mags I dremmel just a tad off the rear of the left feedlip because it could barely touch the ejector when the mag was fully inserted. Mark

Dws:
Those Cheaper than Dirt mags are converted from cheap Beretta 92 mags, by cutting a magazine catch in the front. They do work, they stick out slightly and the can bend or break the ejector pin if anyone slams the mag home.

Heck, I don't even own an XD.

It just struck me os odd that someone was selling normal cap mags for a gun that wasn't even produced until after the ban.

The HS/XD line of pistols was manufactured well after the 1994 ban, thus there are no proprietary 10+ capacity mags for the US market..factory or aftermarket..designed specifically for this pistol.
There are of course, LE only.
