Good for askin! That my friend is a shagbark hickory tree. Just happened to come across a small patch of woods with dozens of these scattered about. When they mature and get big like this one, few things are more beautiful. And wherever you find hickory trees you're bound to find squirrels. They gotta real taste for hickory nuts!Nice! What tree is that in the second picture?
Hope you've got at least a 5 in. barrel. Pistol hunting is no small chore. Find yourself a good rest (or at least a tree to lean on) and it certainly should be doable! Best of luck on your recovery!I went out yesterday, I'm handicapped at the moment (broken collarbone) so no rifle for me. I took out my single action .22 revolver, talk about challenging! Hopefully I'll have something to take pics of next time.
Thanks bailey. I wouldn't trade my 39a for nothin! Excellent shooter and carries very well. In fact, when I do miss, you can bet it's the shooters fault and not the rifle -- usually caused by too much caffein that morning!congrats.
The classic squirrel rifle 'round these parts also.
jebus! you hit that thing with a 22-250?
