Never used a handgun scope.
As the late
labgrade would say "like bowhunting, except using a fiream".
Woodscraft skills are the key.

Tip:
Drill a hole in two quarters near the top, and slip a length of rawhide to hold these and hang off your weak hand pinkie finger.
Remember the sounds squirrels make?
Rub these quarters, just a bit, work it, and watch. Old Bushy tail will come around that tree, or trim limb, as he cannot stand to NOT look to see.
Drop this "call" onto weak hand pinkie and you take a two hand hold and pop him with a revolver.
I was born in 1955, Mentors and Elders were doing this before I was born...
it still works.
