I like it. On paper (or computer :)) measurements may be in favor of one gun to the next, but I say wait until you can hold it, see how it fits your hand and wallet then go from there.

To me, the S&W M&P9c is the primary SR9C competition. I know the published thickness says it's wider than the G26, but that including the ambi-thumb safeties. IMHO - If the SR9C "feels" better (to me!) than the M&P9c...and the M&P "feels" better than the G26...then I'M GONNA' buy the new Ruger. I don't think there's a gnat's rear-end worth of difference between the accuracy, reliability or value of these three options. Yes, I have (several) GLOCK models. Ditto for S&W. But Ruger doesn't take a back-seat to either!

SR9c experience

I have an SR9 and SR9c, and I actually prefer the SR9c, oddly enough. It is not a "thick" unit: same as SR9, but it is not a pocket pistol. It is a compact, same as other compacts (SW, Springfield, Glock) on the market. It seems to have nice balance, and for me it is shooting better than the SR9 (better trigger;same design, but smoother & lighter. Clearly, they have worked on it, and it really helps with accuracy & consistency). It holsters more comfortably also (Serpa - same size as Glock 26), due to that reduced size. Seems like a decent gun.

I guess the issue here is either you like Ruger or not, me personally I like the SR9 when it 1st came out but just have issue on the length of the grips but now I bought this SR9c its perfect for me, very light, slim and so far reliable and accurate for what it is design for: as a carry gun not for competion..P.S nothing against Glocks but I shot a couple before sorry to say not my 1st choice when it comes to polymer/tuppware pistols..

I saw a SR-9C yesterday. The grip with the 10 round mag is the length of a G-26. The slide is the length of a G-19. It was not a bad looking gun.

My local shop has one for about $450.

I owned a full size SR9 for a while but sold it. I would probably pass on the SR9c, although if I had to choose between the full size and the compact I would definitely pick the compact next time.

I handled a SR9C in the local shop a few days ago. It really is a nice slim piece and it has a really nice and slim feeling grip. The slide looked thinner and had much less profile than my M&P9C or the G26/27. The 1.27 inch measurement in width is measured from the outside of the safety levers NOT the slide width. The trigger on the SR9C was fantastic. The reset felt even better than the Glocks. The only thing I didn't care to much for was the adjustable rear sight. The notch just wasn't as big as I like. Other than that I thought it was a pretty cool piece.

I purchased the compact model on Saturday and shot the gun today (Sunday). I have to say it shoots well even with hot loads. Is it everything to everyone? No, it is what it is, a well built gun that goes bang when you pull the trigger. I don't understand why people buy a $400.00 gun and then piss and moan about a lack of features or how it weighs too much. If you want your "perfect" gun, drop $3500.00 on a custom gun so you don't have to complain about what you didn't get for $3,000.00 less.

Got an email from one of the local shops that they had them in stock. They are selling either slide color for 389.99. Seems like you get a lot for your dollar.

Not a Ruger or a plastic gun fan, but I think they're addressing a price point that your major wondernine compact makers don't make it down to. Rugers tend to work well, so they'll probably sell great.

man for 389.99 that's the lowest i have heard of the SR9c going for, i got mine for 399.99

They redesigned the SR-9 trigger for this gun David. IIRC I read it breaks at something like 5.2 pounds. The same trigger they are using in the compacts now will be used in the full sized from here on out. I don't have the link handy I posted it on a thread a few days ago to an American Rifleman blog about this.
OK found the link www.americanrifleman.org/BlogEntry.aspx?id=2066&cid=25

To those of you who have fondled the SR9c - How does the grip feel compared to the G26? Does the gun seem to conceal any easier than the G26?

I think price is the issue here. Ruger enters at a good deal for size of gun. Glocks are about to price them selfs out of the market. The whole thing with Glock was good gun at good price but no more on good price.

I think the grip felt much slimmer than the Glocks but The Glocks grips is maybe a little bit shorter. The rear of the slide protrudes farther back than the Glock. In my experience that makes it a little more tough to conceal than a few tenths of an inch in width.
