I've been reloading for 45+ years myself, and have no need for a case gauge, but do have verniers and mics when necessary.
I have no centerfire semi's at this point, but doubt that I would need a case gauge for that either.
Attention to detail and common sense goes a long way.
Those who choose to use case gauges are taking advantage of today's abundant technology, and they do make it easier for newer reloaders to create good ammo without a lot of experience.
