Stack-On 10 gun safe: Any owners out there?

Thanks for that post #16, Jorg. I've seen a couple of Stack-On threads in the past, and they have generally been about the bottom (less-expensive) option. I know I sort of assumed it; it would be easy to do if you didn't click on the link and were only familiar with that one.

The previous threads I have seen have stated about what this one has, almost exactly. I agree with what has been said thus far.

Having a safe or a resonable security cabinet will give you good piece of mind. I used to keep my weapons in a bedroom closet, until I started to buy $2000 rifles. I hated to leave my house for fear of the dopehead family down the road seeing me leave and breaking into my house. If you have a few cheap weapons and are not afraid of being sued by someone getting shot with your stolen weapon (those lawsuits happen) then don't worry about it. But piece of mind is worth a lot more than a $600 safe.

Also do not leave tools laying around to make a thiefs job easier. A friend of my uncle had his property broken into a while back. It turns out he left a prybar, hammer, electric sawsall, and a electric drill sitting on a back deck along with a note to his brother saying he wouldn't be back till monday (he left on a friday for Tunica). The thief/thieves had a known two day window of opportunity and free tools to steal him blind. THEY CLEANED HIM OUT AND USED HIS OWN TOOLS TO DO IT!

These safes are good for two things, and two things only. Keeping children out of your collection and proper storage if your state requires you to properly store your firearms in a safe. This safe wont and can't stop a thief. However I've seen worse with door hinges

I have the 14 gun cabinet model and like it just fine. It is located behind two steel reinforced doors, however. This setup would give a casual snatch and grab burgler a challenge, but, like safes, wouldn't deter an experienced thief.

I agree with everything said. Like most have said, it's better than nothing. It's certainly better than the double rifle hard case I keep my two long guns in now. Down the road, I will get a more expensive, better built, "real" safe, but for now, this should do. Especially seeing as how I will be moving. I don't want to deal with the hassle of moving a 1 ton safe:eek:.
