I could get case amounts of 9mm FMJ for a really low price. I could choose any of these brands for the same low price, so which is the best stuff?

Winchester
Remington UMC
American Eagle
Blazer Brass

P.S. I will be taking some courses soon, so I need something that will not let me down!

All are good choices.

I think the American Eagle is the dirtiest of the bunch. I regularly shoot Blazer Brass. I also shoot the Remington UMC & less of the Winchester.

Go with the American Eagle.

All are probably fine, but in my experience Federal American Eagle is the best-quality "blasting ammo" brand from a major maker. Their FMJ offerings in 9mm, .380, and .38 Special are all recommended. Clean, uniform, accurate, nice brass -- there's just nothing wrong with it.

I also like their flat-point .357 Magnum JSP a lot. It is accurate plinking ammo for lever carbines, and there's no reason you couldn't hunt with it.

Back to your question. I've shot cases of Fed AE in 9mm (124 grain), and have also tried Winchester and Blazer Brass in that caliber.

I would rank as follows:

1) Federal AE
2) Blazer Brass (quite good, close to AE)
3) Winchester

Not much experience w/ Remington UMC in 9mm. In other calibers I tend to find it a notch below the other brands listed.

PS: For premium ammo -- carry or hunting -- I generally strongly prefer CCI/Speer, Hornady, Winchester, or even Remington (Golden Sabers and the Express lead .38+P hollowpoints). Not a big fan of Federal. But at the "non-crappy blasting ammo" price point, Federal (and particularly the AE line) has been very good.

though i have had good luck with all of them, i would say go with the winchester, which is my first chioce, it is consistant all that i have shot. it is pretty accurate, and goes bang everytime. i have never had a problem with wwb in any handgun or pistol caliber weapon for that matter.

followed by umc. but i have seen some quality control issues in a batch or two, it was only 3 rds out of the 1000's that i have shot but that counts!

i if you can get them all for the same price go with the best which i believe is the wwb. if there was a real difference in the prices then i would recomend the blazer brass or american eagle but they are the same go with the wwb.
