Which stainless .45acp is the perfect balance of form and function? I know the 1911 :) but what else? I think for me the sig elite P220 is it.

My personal favorite is the SIG 220ST. I found the beavertail and the wood grips of the Elite too wide, don't care for the forward cocking serrations and prefer not to have the SRT

S&W made bunch of "Big Stainless Toads". The models are: 645, 745 and 4506 and its derivatives.

If it does not have to be new, consider one of the 3rd Generation S&W 45xx series pistols, which are rock-solid reliable and can be found for as little as half the price of a Sig or 1911. The all-stainless guns come with 5" (4506) or 4.25" barrels (4566 is most common) and the ones with the shorter barrel come in several variations (DA/SA with decocker and safety or decocker-only, or DAO).

I have a Ruger P90,excellent shooter. But my friend has a smaller version I shot. Ruger P345,definitely that one!

I'll second a P220 Stainless. I prefer the Elite myself, but they ARE wide, as 9mmepiphany said.

I own three 45s: a Glock 30SF, a 1911 and a Ruger KP90; all are fine shooters. But, by far, the KP90 is the best shooting one of the three. So good in fact, my wife bought herself one identical to mine week before last.

I find it odd that when the OP post:
I know the 1911 :) but what else?

...we get several suggestions for the 1911 platform.

Are folks just choosing to ignore the OP, did they not read it completely (it was only one line) or do they think it doesn't apply to their choice?

did they not read it completely

BINGO!!!! There are a lot of non-reading types on this forum, which is super ironic given the format of the conversations. I see so many foolish posts that are the exact opposite of what the OP is looking to discuss. You should start having a reading and comprehension test before granting membership.

Gee (hint hint on the "G") we could use advice like that on a LOT of threads around here.

The same as most other threads. No matter what the OP is looking for responders will hawk their favorites.

- "Looking for a reliable SA .45."

-- "Just get a Glock."

- "Want a DAO 9MM."

-- "Get a .45."

- "Looking for a nice conservative girl to settle down with."

-- "Go gay."

well it isn't shiny but the S&W M&P 45C is stainless. It also so happens to be my favorite handgun. It is very concealable, and it is large enough to be easy to control.

Meh... on another forum I frequent there would already be a post or two saying "Should get a G****.":banghead:

As for the OP, I like the SIG 220ST.

I've only seen pics of the CZ97 stainless but it is stunning. Would love to hold one in my hand.
