At this point in time I see very little reason to purchase anything NFA due to the excessive wait times.
Hey, KY DAN, it could be worse.
Here in Oregon the State Police conduct background checks, (for the money),
and do not allow dealers any other option for completing transfers.
I filled out a
4473 for a trapdoor single shot yesterday and am currently number 10,000 out of over 20,000
in line.
Don't know how I 'jumped' the queue up to that number. Just lucky I guess?
My dealer (and best friend of over 40 years) showed me the computer screen that shows he
should contact the S.P. in mid April if I am not approved by then.
No, I have never been delayed before or have any police dealings at all to flag my transfer.
My last name is unique across the U.S., so no confusion in that respect.
These delays are a VERY common situation here in Oregon right now.
Also lucky for me here in Oregon, I am legally allowed to possess 'personal' amounts of
heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine (check if you do not believe me) so I reckon I can just get
high and forget about the absurd transfer times for a bit.
My rant's over, I do hope your outcome gets resolved soon.
