Star BM problem

I finally took my Star BM to a friend's property way up on the mountain to shoot only to have it jam every 1 or 2 rounds.

It jammed because the extractor failed to remove the empty casing from the chamber and the next round would jam into the back of it. All I have to do to clear it is remove the mag and eject the casing.

So is the casing simply becoming stuck in the chamber or does anybody think the extractor is the problem?

I would check your extractor spring tension. The spring may have lost strength and may not be applying enough pressure on the extractor. I would also clean your chamber thoroughly. My star came with a FILTHY barrel. It needed a LOT of cleaning.

Add me to the list of people that say clean the barrel. It could be the extractor but in my experience, limited as it is, a cruddy chamber is the culprit.
I picked up three when Aim Surplus had them for $139.00
All three of them had extraction/ejection issues until I completly cleaned the chamber.
The funny thing I noticed was that they didn't seem to have been fired a lot, just used and not cleaned.

I don't know what ammo the Spanish used but the carbon black looked like coal soot.

Those are my observations, of course "ymmv"

Thats good. I gave the barrel an extensive cleaning as soon as I got home from trying to shoot it. The bore didn't seem dirty when I bought it so I never bothered to clean it.

Hopefully that solved the problem. But I havn't found the time to shoot it lately.

What kind of ammunition were you shooting???

1.Clean the hell out of it with attention to the extractor area & chamber.
2.Check your magazines:the lip design can be tricky in the BM.
3.Check your ammo as Onmilo says:some of the BMs are ammo-picky.

last time I shot my Star I cleaned the barrel for an hour and never did get clean patches out of it. It is an awesome gun though.

I was shooting UMC 115gr JHP. Its not the cleanest ammo but I clean the barrel of my P-11 and my FEG HP with a few swipes. I think the crud I was getting out of the barrel of my BM was older than that.

Today I cleaned the barrels of my FEG PJK-9HP and my Star. I used outer's barrel foam. I sprayed both barrels thee times letting it soak for 30 minutes each time. The FEGs barrel had a little copper fouling but was very clean when I was done and I have fired hundreds of UMC 9mms through it this past year without much thourough cleaning. The star on the other hand was still filthy. After the outers I used the brush, and alternated CLP soaked patches and dry patches about 30 times. I got a BUNCH of crud out of the barrel and I think its still kind of dirty. I don't think the spaniards cleaned thier weapons like we did in the Corps.
