Guys,

At a gun show a friend of mine bought a Star Modelos Super in 9mm Largo.

I said I'd help find ammo.

So... can any other round be substituted for reloading like .38 Super brass or 9x23?

I presume it cannot use .38 Super fatory ammo due to high pressure but what about .38 Auto?

Anyway we want to make it a shooter (cost him$250 flat for the gun.)

Thanks

It would probably shoot .38 Auto... if you could find any, which seems unlikely.

At one time CCI made Blazer aluminum Largo. I know one guy who shot it in his .38 Super for substitution the other way.

If loading for it, I recall one manual said to start .38 Auto half a grain less than the .38 Super starting load and working up to the starting load if needed for function. That ought to be close for Largo.

From close to the end of this link

In 1996 Winchester introduced a new cartridge, the 9x23mm Winchester. The exterior case dimensions of this round are almost identical to the 9mm Largo. Interior dimensions are different though, as this cartridge is loaded to much higher pressure than the 9mm Largo. For this reason 9x23mm Winchester ammunition should not be used in 9mm Largo firearms. Reloading the brass to 9mm Largo specifications should not pose a problem, if it is remembered that the case capacity of the 9x23mm Winchester is less than that of the 9mm Largo and powder charges are adjusted accordingly

Hope this helps

I use these cases when reloading for this caliber.

Thanks. Other websites say one can use 9x19 dies and just adjust the sizer for the longer case. I think I have a sizer at home. I've plenty of slugs.

Two or three years ago imported 9mm Largo ammunition was available in bulk. I was checking it out until my deal for another Model B fell through.

It helps to be a reloader if you own a Largo, though.

9mm Largo ammo can be found on Gunbroker. The price is really expensive but it's available.
