I know .38 Super should not be shot in a 9MM largo chambered gun due to pressures, but my question is, can you shoot 9MM Largo in a gun chambered for .38 Super. Will it work? Thanks, AC

When CCI was making Blazer Largo, I knew a guy who shot it routinely in his .38 Super. There is some actual Spanish surplus Largo that is too long for the Super magazine (and some that fits) so don't stock up until you know which you are considering.

Thanks. I have a couple of more questions. (Brass, extractors, etc) When the gun gets here I may PM you, if that's OK. Thanks, Anthony

I shoot factory 9x23, 9mm Supercomp, .38 Supercomp, 9mm Largo, .38 Super and 9mm Steyr out of the same chamber. It doesn't hurt the gun. You can theorize whatever you want. If it fits smoothly in the chamber it will probably function. End of story.

Interesting quote from the discussion you linked to Hunter0924.

Don't do it! Just cause it may chamber and may fire is not near enough. As others have pointed out, the dimensions are off and even though a 9mm Largo is usually less powerful than a .38 Super, it is still ill advised!

BTW: the home for all things Largo: http://www.9mmlargo.com/index.htm

Thanks. I checked out that site when I purchased my Star Modelo Super. Fun plinker. I probably won't do it now that I think about it more. It was just a thought that crossed my mind and I knew folks here would know.. AC

Thanks Walkalong, I looked up in the NRA firearms reference which other rounds can be shot out of the Super .38 chamber and only the .38 auto was listed.
Since the discussion we had on m1911.org I asked my gunsmith and he said the exact same thing herohog, just because it will chamber does not mean it is safe to shoot.
