Star Pistols

I own a number of Star pistols and like them a great deal. I find them well built with nice trigger pulls. Never had any problems. Some I bought used but in very good to excellent condition. Some were bought new "back in the day" and recently NOS (new old stock). I am always on the look out for these guns. I would like to hear y'alls opinions and experiences....best wishes

I have a BM 9mm shoots great just like a 1911 would.I have a Astra 1921 like it to.

I had a star BM before. It shoots fmj but JHP was causing ftf. The single trigger break was so light as well. And heavy heavy ... G19 all the way for me as of date.

I have several Star pistols also and I keep a look out for more. The oldest Star pistol I have is a model 1914 the French used during WW1. I also have a model 1921 in 9 Largo but I like their modern pistols more like the 31P.

Star made some good guns and they aren't collectors items so they are still relatively cheap. Although, I have come across some that weren't so cheap like the 7.63 Mauser model U with a detachable but stock for $2000, a engraved model F .22 for $1000, and a chrome plated model PS .45 for $500. I didn't think any of those were worth the asking price so I didn't even consider buying them. Star pistols are fun range guns but that's all they are to me. For self defense I prefer my CZ pistols.

To date, I have a Star Super B, a Star BM, and a Star PD. The Super B is from 1947. They are solid, reliable, and accurate pistols.

I also have an Astra A75, and a Model 400.

In Llama I have an X-IB, in 9x19, and a XXX-A in .32 ACP.

Despite the old wive's tails, I've found all three brands guns to be reliable. Llama was probably the worst of the trio, but a little careful inspection enabled me to score well with them.

I sold my 9mm Firestar Plus to fund another project, but it was a fine pistol. Alloy frame with a 13 rd magazine in a compact package. I still have a couple of the 13rd mags (marked .40 S&W, but work well in the 9mm F/S+) if anyone is interested.

I kinda collect Spanish Steel, some are very nice like my 9mm Star BS and BKM .

I've had good luck on the Llama side of the family. If that counts.

I like my 1943 Star b, but I don't shoot it much. I have large hands and I need to be careful about hammer bite, I've hesitated about having the hammer bobbed, but I probably should as these are not appreciating all that much. It is accurate, and easy to shoot well, even with the small sights. Ive had mine worked on several time but it is still not reliable enough to carry. I like the size, it makes my other 9's seem a bit clunky. The BM is basically a short barrel version, seems like that would be a good carry piece.

I had a Star Model B in 9mm. A decent gun that was very reliable and surprisingly accurate. It was also a great gun to teach new shooters with as it was easy to control with little to no recoil.

I have a Firestar .45 in stainless that was my carry gun until I went with an HK. The only times I ever had trouble out of it was shooting Tula and Wolf ammo. I never did figure out why it jammed about every 3rd round with that stuff (failure to go into full battery) but as long as I feed it home rolled, or decent factory it has never given me a problem.

I like that one a lot, and have had it for about 5 years now. A little hard to find mags and parts for, but I would buy another star pistol in the future.
