Is there a manufacturer that uses starline headstamped brass for 308?
I found some starline 308win brass at the range. Looks like once fired.....but who can really tell?
It's hard for me to believe a reloader would leave it behind.

Some of the boutique ammo makers do, or so I've read. I just tumbled some old .357 mag brass & nickle plated cases, there are quite a few starline in the nickle casings and I'm sure they were bought as loaded ammo.

I find Starline brass at the range all the time, all of it handgun calibers. A buddy gave me two boxes of 45 Colt cases and danged if they weren't Starline. I can't remember the brand, but they were in a blue and white box. I've never seen rifle cases.

I have to say that I can pretty much guarantee that at our range anything rifle related on the ground is once fired, for one because anyone shooting reloads is not letting it hit the ground. Then if it is a reload shot from an AR it hits the ground and gets mixed in with the thousands of other already on the ground so it's highly unlikely it's been reloaded more than once.

I have been finding Starline in 223 and 308 but not enough quantity to save.

That's for sure. I gently cycle the bolt so the case doesn't get ejected, just falls out so I can catch it. I use Lapua brass and don't want it hitting the concrete.

I bought some freedom munitions 357 magnum at a gun show or estate sale (can't remember which, could have been some at both:)) last winter just because it was star line brass. People leave all kinds of stuff on the ground, LC, starline, etc at the range. It would make me sad if it wasn't so free.

There was a professional reader in this area that had several big motorized Dillon presses. That reloader used Starline brass, at least in the few handgun cartridges of theirs that I saw.

That reloader has since ceased doing business, I believe retired.
“professional reader”? Bet autocorrect helped you on that one:)

Yes, lots of small companies use Starline brass, heck even some sizeable companies. Especially since the obama shortages, and then covid, the major manufactures shifted to all their in house production (Winchester, Lapua, Norma, Petersen, Hornady for example), Remington was stopped during their bankruptcy, and is going again, but most of their new brass is going to ammo production too, both Rem branded and other Vista brands. That left Armscor, Starline, and Jagemann. Ammo Inc bought Jagemann and it seems to be mostly going to there internal production now. There are a few other small brass makers (Quality Cartridges for ex.), but nothing in the numbers of Armscor and Starline. Hornady, brass is starting to show up again in decent numbers. Variety of brass, the nod goes to Starline and Hornady.

Starline is basically the go to brass company for all small manufacturers, with a few high end exceptions.

Pro Tip: If you're loading with new brass......it's not reloading by definition.

OMG, I love Starline cases, I would never head home if I didn't find every Starline case I shot. Honestly, never found a Factory load using Starline, sorry I don't use Cor-Bon. I crawl around on my old arthritic knees hunting for any Starline cases that I had shot that were unaccounted for. :D Maybe that is because I know what they cost.
