thanks guys what im looking at is this lee turret kit http://www.leeprecision.com/cgi/catalog/browse.cgi?1243278119.4033=/html/catalog/rlpress2.html#DeluxeTurretPressKit

an additional turret per caliber

dies per caliber

and a few general loading manuals

what im seeing is that there are many ways to skin the cat of reloading and im getting confused of what i actualy need to start out and what i can wait on untill im up and running

my workspace is taken care of as well as a bench (i have a full workshop with pleanty of table space)

will this press allow me to grow?
will i be able to do rifle calibers in the future?

im not looking at fast production at first ill be taking this pretty slow untill i get the hang of it so a progressive is out of the question for now

i have a seperate budget set aside for materials so brass bullits primer powder etc isnt factored in this

• For manuals, look for Lyman #49. That's a great all-around manual, unless you are bound by contract to only shoot one brand of bullet. If Mr Nosler is your father-in-law, then save your marriage and buy his manual first.

• You'll need a digital 6" caliper. Scan the ads for Harbor Freight for the $13 special, or buy the same thing from Bass Pro or Midway for $25.

• For rifle you'll need a case trimmer. There are tens of great trimmers. Do a search here on "trimmer" and read up.

• Get the manual first and buy the exact bullets and powders listed in the manual. Follow their recipes exactly starting low and working up. Stay with published loads until you get the hang of things. Walk, then run.

• Get a "lab notebook" and keep tabs on all your reloads. Record what works and what doesn't for each batch.

Find a local reloading buddy through a gun club, shooting range, or by simply asking here. You need a mentor. You need to look over his shoulder, and vice versa.

i have a friend who has reloaded for a few years now and of course ill refer back to THR and the wealth of knowledge here

does anyone know where to get dies and load data for 9mm Largo aka 9mm Bergman/Baynard?

thats the one i forgot to add to that list and id like to start shooting my destroyer carbine again

I'm no expert, but I know Hornady makes 9x23 Winchester dies. For that cartridge, a lot of people simply use 9x19 Luger dies. If Largo is .355 and tapered you might try the Luger dies. If Largo is .355 and straightwall you might experiment with 38 Super dies.

One thing I do know: Don't get the data for 9x23 Largo confused with 9x23 Winchester.

yea i know the difference lol one goes bang the other goes KABOOM lol

thats why i havent shot my destroyer in a while largo is a pain to find/order in anything under 1000 rounds at a time

im mainly loading for practice with my pistols to start with and a few things that i dont like buying thousands of rounds at a time to shoot

eventualy id like to be able to reload for almost if not everything i own (shotguns down the road a bit)

its not an extencive list so i think its doable

.25ACP
.32ACP
.38Special+p
.357Magnum
.45ACP
.45Colt
.9mm Largo
.223Remington
.30-30Winchester
.308Winchester

down the road i plan on getting a few more guns so a few more calibers to load and sooner or later get into shotguns with 12 20 and 410 being the ones id like to load
and yes i know loading shotguns is a whole other operation with all different equipment

No, not the 'standard' turret press; the Classic Turret

listed at the top of this page. It's the "new / improved" version--and Lee does not put together a factory kit for it. The Classic Turret is much stronger, will build rifle rounds bigger than the standard turret will, and it has an effective used primer dispenser setup--which the older 'standard' does not. Overall, the Classic Turret is the best-bang-for-the-buck turret press.

There are numerous discussions in this forum about why the Classic Turret is better--search for them. I own the older / standard version, which I have updated, and I will upgrade to the new one when I can afford it.

Build your kit around the Kempf Gun Shop Classic Turret kit, here, or a similar kit at Cabela's.

As for the 9mm Largo, you might try e-mailing Lee--they may well have them, or can produce a set for you economically.

hmm isnt what i linked to the "deluxe" turret press?

id much prefer a kit rather than get everything seperatly but if the classic is better i may just have to

Dang it! Ya'll keep starting these threads...I keep wanting to divert my gun buying funds to reloading funds!!! :)

does anyone know where to get dies and load data for 9mm Largo aka 9mm Bergman/Baynard?

9mm Largo dies: http://www.midwayusa.com/browse/Bro...003&categorystring=9315***731***702***8345***

Load Data: http://9mmlargo.com/cartridge/loads.htm

Although virtually unheard of until recently, the 9mm Largo is not a new cartridge. Developed in the early 1900's as a military pistol cartridge, it was adopted by the Danish (Model 1910) and the Spanish (Star and Astra) military. Also known as a 9mm Bayard, Bermann, Bergmann-Bayard, Bayard Long, Danish and 9 x 23, the Largo is almost exactly like the popular 38 Super except being rimless and having a deeper extractor groove.

9mm Luger, 9x21, 9x23 and 38 Super dies will all work to load the Largo. The surplus ammo available is all berdan primed, but for the reloader, Starline Brass makes cases just for the 9mm Largo.

Due to the deeper extractor groove, 9mm shell plates and shell holders don't work well. In the Dillon, we found the #3 shell plate (.222, .223, etc.) with #3 buttons worked well on the Model 550.

One thing we noticed in the Star we tested and others we examined was the diameter of the firing pin hole being exceptionally large allowing the primer to flow back into the opening. We suggest using primers with hard cups such as Winchester or CCI to help prevent that.
