Those words are engraved on the S&W model 6906 that I just bought. I has been fired, but shows not a single external sign of being used or carried. I feel I got a great deal on a gun that I like.

But those engraved words! Do you think that maybe somewhere they put more emphasis on "marshal" than we expect for a state fire marshal? Or is this job, in some states, an actual LEO job?

Who is in Washington State, but doesn't know in which state this was a State Fire Marshal weapon.

I think that you'll find that most State Fire Marshalls are sworn law enforcement positions. Same as arson investigators in local Fire Departments. They can file charges just like any other LEO.

Yes , in general fire marshalls are LEOs .After all they deal with BG arsonists. I knew one who carried a 44 Ruger Redhawk !!!

Cool! This one joins my collection of retired police guns. My S&W 6904 (same as the Fire Marshal gun, but not stainless) was imported back from Israel. I wish I could find out which agency or police department in Israel used it.

PA Fish Commission

In 1997 I bought a NIB surplus 96D Beretta .40 from the PA Fish Commission  . It was sweet. NP3 plated, rubber grips, trijicon night sights/3 dot plated mags, all for only $580.00 USD :D .

An ex-cop I worked with who also worked as a part time LEO for the commission really wanted it bad. He told me the state did not keep track of all the duty pistols they needed and wanted local gun shops to sell them back to the state.

Bart, S&W can often provide that information for you (at the very least, the date of manufacture and who it was shipped to). I believe the current fee is $30 for the service.
