They're local to me and I usually drive there and pick up my order, they are just super nice folks.
I was in Joplin visiting my family back a few years ago. I was really tempted to drive out there, but time constraints were against me.

If you live within driving distance of Winfield, Kansas, it's worth the trip to visit Powder Valley.

Take greenbacks, moola, the green folding stuff. PV sets aside a small percentage to sell to the locals. What they have varies, but lately they've had product that rhymes with climber. And yes, quantities and how often you can buy are strictly limited.

Oh, and if you read the above and thought, "good, I'll take my debit / credit card. It's as good as cash" you need to read it again. And if you are out of town, you need to drive to Winfield - this is for face-to-face sales.

Good for PV!

Graf's is another one that limits quantities.

I am sick TO DEATH of the component hoarders, bragging because they're sitting on 100K primers and cases of powder.

I wish I was sitting on 100,000 primers

Dang and here I was worried about being a greedy pig for ordering 3 boxes of projectiles from PV even though I'll probably only shoot 2 boxes this year. What the foxtrot is wrong with people?

Hording is a natural behavior in the animal world. We horde money, cars, homes, .... primers and powder, and the more we can’t get... we want

You forgot toilet paper...
.
and pork... no joke, during TP times, people were buyimg loins (s) of streak and pork butts! including me,... no way can I go without meat.

I should have used that money to buy Primers

Greed and selfishness. That's what's wrong with people.

What I found particularly humorous was shortly after the 'vid nonsense started, there was a short lived run on meat around here, only it was just chicken and beef that got cleared out, and the pork section was almost fully stocked. I thought well that works for me, I like pork! But I guess it's still just "the other white meat." :D

I just might swing into their place next fall. They are about 100 miles out of the way of my usual route of my annual hunting pilgrimage to pursue Bambi and his ilk with my brother and son. (When you're traveling 2,800 miles round trip, what's another 100 between friends?)

90% of both my powder & primers have come from PV & many many projectiles through the years...they have always been stellar. They have been stand up then & now & should be commended.

That said...it's a free country buy what you want within reason. I also believe in being prepared in general, NOT living day to day in all my needs & maintaining specific par levels when it comes to all shooting supplies. Also, buying with foresight & in advance, helping your buddies when you can. There is nothing wrong with being prepared & learning from being hung out to dry the last 3 times though.

Lastly, I believe in capitalism but also honor & market self correction. Btw, true "gouging" has to do with true necessities of life. These items may feel like it but they are not. If people were more prepared, learned from the past scares and...didn't support the "gouging" they wouldn't have power & things would settle down...political agendas aside. Just a few thoughts & JMHO

IF things ever get back to normal, PV will be in my top 3 for everything reloading.

And a LGS I support. They provided some Win 244 today.

Graf & sons has been good. Brownells has been good. And Powder Valley has been good.

But their statement was outstanding!!!

I am sick to death of people calling folks that are prepared "component Hoarders" . I have enough powder and primers to last the rest of my life, and still share with family and friends . It's not fair to start calling folks names just because they were/are smart enough to have stocked up . I have kept the same amount of surplus for 30 years or more and I still buy every chance I get . I also store water, just saying .

its the braggin" part
Bragging is easy to ignore, especially when it's just some stranger on the internet . Nobody forces anybody to read it . I think it's more about getting caught out and maybe some jealousy also .

I guess us folks that are prepared could also flip the conversation and say we are sick of the crying from those that are not prepared .

Being prepared and hoarding are two different things. If you have "...enough powder and primers to last the rest of my life, and still share with family and friends.", and you're still buying, then like it or not, you fall squarely into the hoarder category. And let's be honest, hoarders don't share, they hoard. Sorry if that's "not fair".

Make no mistake, I have lots of primers and powder, but I also shoot several times a week, sometimes daily since I have my own range. But I bought my components long before demand went through the roof. Even with all I have, there's a potential to run out given the rate I shoot.

I stock up when prices are low and build up a good stash.
When 22LR came back and Cabela's and other local places had tables of it on sale a few years ago, I stocked up. Now I can hand my nephew a 550 pack and the 10/22 and we have a great Saturday.
When powder and primers come back, I'll stock up on those again. For now, I'll use what I have until I run low. Then it will be winter and my shooting volume will drop off.

On Powder Valley, can't help but notice the proximity of their location to Hodgdon's operations, plus it appears that the US Distribution point of VihtaVuori is located in Sedalia, MO, which is only a few hundred miles away. Closer to Midway and Graf's, but still in the neighborhood.

Hodgdon's website has a statement suggesting they have decided to support their dealers more than compete with them by selling on their own website. But as for all brands of powders, since it appears that nearly all of small arms powders are made in countries outside the US and most are made for military use (recently found reference that IMR stands for "Improved Military Rifle").....it appears all the Hodgdon lines are imported powders and likely represents just a drop in the bucket of the total market share for these products. Unless those plants have shut down, hard to understand where the shortages of powder in general are coming from. It's as if we only need a few pounds out of tons and it's not available?

So what baffles me is why all resellers (PV, Midway, Graf, LGS's etc) seem to be struggling to find supply of powders. If it were only one or two brands, understandable, but all of them?
